Everyone of us have dreams some night or the other. Have you ever observed what mode you are in while you are dreaming, whether its colorful or in black and white mode. A scientific study shows that, whatever we see in our dreams are all in black and white. Then when we remember it and tell it in the morning, we perceive the things and that is when we get the colors to the various objects that were present in our dream. What do you think about your dreams?

Hello, I definitely think we dreams in colors and not just black and white and all the greys between. For example I remeber very vividly I saw a dreams about reading a book. When I woke up I could recite the words to myself, the dream was so true. I remember that at the end of the book there was something about liquid gold in glass and I could see the gold in my dream. So how could I see in black and white, then 'remember' it as gold when I have never seen liquid gold in my life, not in television, never mind in real life? By the black and white dreams theory I should have thought it quicksilver or liquid silver or any other silvery liquid metal. Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

Dear Dante Off, first of all I would like to express my happiness to see this topic. Because I really have got some thing to say about it. Like many people I also used to believe after studying various reports and articles about the dreams, that we dream in black and white. I also believed this thing as most of us don't remember any thing much about the dream in the morning except the main theme of it. Now, coming to the discussion, I can definitely say that we dream in color and not in black and white. My father was to get me a Electric Guitar from Calcutta, for which I was desperately waiting. One night before his arrival I dreamt that he got me the Guitar but it was a Brown colored one. I was terribly upset with this color as this was no good color to be with on the stage. And I could feel my dissatisfaction in the morning also when I got up, as I was very disturbed thinking about it. Later on when my father he came to our place with the Guitar I sighed with relief to see that he got my guitar which was beautiful blue colored one with a black fret plate and lot of steel work on it.I really got so happy that I can't express in words. This clearly suggests that I dreamt in color as my main concern was about the color of my guitar and I actually seen brown colored Guitar in my dream and I was totally relieved of my tensions the moment I have seen that the guitar was actually not brown in color but it was blue. This definitely makes me believe that one dreams in color not in black and white but he/she can't remember this aspect of the dream till the morning! Thanks for the discussion started and hope to get views of others on this topic! I enjoyed partcipating in it!

Very well said, I am actually confused here. I too see dreams in color, but the moment I think about dreams being b/w it becomes ambiguous whether or not they were color. Ya as you told that when we get up, we generally remember the theme of the dream not the details, its one type. Others remember the whole lot of it. One of my friend's father is a psychiatrist, has done research on Dream and Brain activity. He was explaining it to me that the main character(the one we treat in a specific dream) is in colors but everything else is b/w, and these things are conjured after we think about the main character of our dream. I don't know what I understood, but it quite made sense when I compared it with one of my weird dreams that I had a year before: I was walking a paddy field, full of grown paddy. It was like the scene from Gladiator where Crowe walks through the field. I was just able to see my hand, and it was in color, everything else was colorless. It was nice talking to you. Thanks for your compliments. ~cheerio~

This is interesting. I have all along thought that dreams is in color. Never had it cross my mind that it is black and white and we have "painted" it with our memories of the object.
