You mean, Fruit Cake! I don't know of anyone who likes Fruit Cake. It's not that great. Give me the pumpkin pie any day over Fruit Cake, and since I live in the U.S.A. I know that I have a choice, and I choose not to eat Fruit Cake!

I love cakes and I like to make some, though I haven't tried I think its fun. I wish I have a friend who likes giving cakes to friends.

I use to make alot of cakes as well as buns, but nowadays i just think that they are just as cheap to buy in a shop, rather than making all the mess as well as having the extra things that you have to buy to make all the cakes. My friend buys cakes and then decorates them, telling her children that she has made the cake, lol.

I have never liked fruit cake although many people here give them as gifts. The running joke is that they are used as doorstops or saved and re-gifted the next year!
I always baked a birthday cake for Jesus and we sang Happy Birthday and at the cake at Christmas supper. Since I'm alone now I usually just buy a slice of cake or even a single cupcake and light a birthday candle on top.

I am with you on the door stop with the fruit cake/christmas cake.I think that there are alot of people out there that give them to people as a gift at christmas, but they either end up getting binned or given away. That is a great idea about getting a slice of cake or a cupcake.

I do not like the dried fruit in it, i also do not like christmas pudding.I think that it is nice for the person that has made the cake and gone to all the effort, but it is horrid to think that people do not eat what they have taken the time to make.

I've always like christmas log cakes! haha =D They are tasty and the looks are special too. There are so many log cakes around at the time of the year, and i'm often spolit for choice. WHile buying one, price is a major buying factor because of the size, and i'm the only one eating within my family! lol =D If i'm lucky, i will get one free from friends, if not, i can only buy a big log cake to share with friends.. haha

I have never liked fruit cake at all so i never make them. I make more pies at christmas than i do cakes. My kids gfaves are a dessert called chocolate majesty & chess squares so i usually fix them along w/pecan or chess pies if not both.

Reading some of your responses I am surprised by the people who do not like fruit cake! I love it! I love dark and moist fruit cake and I used to buy it all the time until I began to put on weight because of course I cannot stop at just one piece! I adore traditional Christmas cake with the thick icing on it as well as plumb pudding, love plum pudding!

I don't care for the fruitcake either. I like cake but that is one cake I don't like. Everyone always says it's because I haven't had one that was made right but I have actually tried quite a few and have never really liked any of them more than the other. I love fruit but I don't like the fruitcake. I usually make cheesecake with cherries for Christmas desert. Chocolate would be great too.

I have a couple of stories about fruit cake! I found out sailors during WWII used to preserve the gift of fruit cake by soaking it in booze and share it with his mates later in the year. They loved it.
Germans (my ancestors) would slice it and soak it in either eggnog with brandy or in homemade vanilla pudding. They would eat it for desert for Christmas.

I don't like fruit mince, and nor do most who visit us. But my partner does, and has a gluten allergy: so the ingredients for her are all the more expensive. We will be buying a small GF cake for her, as we would otherwise have a stack of expensive ingredients hanging around the rest of the year.

I like christmas cakes, espeically log cakes. IT's pretty to look at and the taste is fantastic. I'm always keeping those plastic decors that comes with it. There's the log cabin, santa claus and it's reindeers. I have them all in safekeeping. I will use them when my brother comes back, bake a nice cake, while those decos will come in handy as a christmas cake too.

I am not a fruitcake fan either, but my mom loves them so I usually try to buy here one each year. I think that a chocolate cake would make a perfect Christmas cake as I love chocolate. I am hoping to make some new desserts this year for Christmas, but I am not sure that I will be able too.

i am not a fan of fruit cake. i tried eating one before, when my mom received one as a Christmas gift... never tried it again.
We'd also get a chocolate cake or something else, so that everyone can enjoy it. :)

I don't see those much anymore. Thank goodness. I used to dig the nuts out and give the rst to my dogs, but they left most of it also.

I'm the one person within my immediate family who appreciates the greatness that is known world wide as fruit cake. They often give me grief about it, and insist upon watching me consume the stuff...
...And they say I'm the weird one. I don't get off on watching other people eat things. That's pretty weight in my book.
