I had one of this awful dreams last night and it feels so darn real like if I am really going to hit bottom. I always wondered though I always see myself falling but I never, ever have actually seen myself hit the ground. I wonder why that would be that I never see myself actually hit and what would happen if I did and the dream felt so real. I mean I have almost fallen off the bed when I have one of those dreams and believe me that really stinks, lol but I have never actually fell off the bed or seen myself hit the ground. Well let me know what you guys think and if you have had the same dream or something similar.

I've had that kind of dream several times as well. Usually I wake up before I hit the ground, but the few times I haven't I ended up dreaming I fell into a big body of water (usually a lake). One time though, when I was a kid, I dreamt I was falling off a really tall building, and just when I hit the ground I suddenly woke up... and it turned out I had actually fallen off my bed! :P

LOL, sorry I don't mean to laugh at you it's just that I had a similar thing happen but I just made it to not fall off the bed. I woke up just in time to catch myself by grabbing on to my fiancee and scaring him awake. If you could have only heard him scream from being scared that he was going to fall too, LOL that was funny. I never fell in a lake though I think most of mine were falling off a building or something, actually I don't remember the one where I almost fell off the bed. I wish I could remember what I was falling from that time but I can't recall it was so long ago. Thanks for all the responses and have a great holiday season.

Aww poor him, hehe, that must've been scary. One falling dream I've had several times (and from what I know, it turns out it's pretty common) is that I'm driving and I end up falling off a cliff because either the brakes or the steering wheel don't work, it's pretty scary! Take care!

Yeah, I have heard that too that if you stress to much before going to bed or if you have an argument that you will have something like that happen. Of course in my family I am from Mexican decent so I have all the old wives tails like don't eat heavy before bed because your face will twist and don't let you feet hang over because the coocooi(boogyman) will get you. Man I remember those stories my auntie used to tell me and how interesting but scary they were to me, haha. Any how back to the subject at hand, yeah I heard it can be stress related too.

Yeah, it often happens with me also. When I dream of falling, I wake up before hitting the ground in my dream. This happens because I so scared. Even if I wake up, it takes 2-3 minutes for me to realize that it was a dream and not reality. I really hate such dreams.

hehehe, lolz, it always happen to me too, during dream it looks like I am falling from a height and when I hit the ground my body just shivers, it is really happening. I observed this things in kids also, when they are sleeping the suddenly shivers and I think this is also due to this type of dream. Scientifically speaking, as I have no source to confirm it, it my own thinking, if some parts of your body cannot get enough blood due to your sleeping position, then such type of dreams appear and you just move your body to change your position during sleeping and this help in movement of blood to those parts, but it may not be true, or it can be...:)) Have a good day...

I never thought about that you know that might be true especially since when I sleep i tend to wrap up in the fetal position. Maybe you are right in your thinking because sometimes when I wake up either my arm is asleep from laying my head on it or my entire leg is asleep from being bent all night, haha. Who would have thought something like that might affect our dreams. Great response and thanks for writing I appreciate it.

Same with me, I usually experience this kind of dreams where I'm falling. I really feel like it's real too. I can feel that my body is falling, I can somehow feel the force or air against my body's direction of movement, as if anytime I'll already hit the ground hard. Then before I can even reach the ground, I'll suddenly wake up astoundingly, it's like I'm in shock. I've experienced this on a public vehicle for a few occasions, I was really tired and the travel was quite long. The people who sat beside me giggled a bit, well, I also giggled. I find it quite embarrassing but funny at the same time. =)

The falling dreams that you had may not mean anything, and could be explained through scientific means or logical thinking. In other words there is nothing to worry about, and in fact the majority of dreams fall into this category. On the other hand dreaming of falling from a high place, or going down to a lower place can mean failure in achieving success in something that we intend to grasp.

A dream I have every now and then is one where I slip or fall and I react by jerking and thus waking up. I do not like the feeling actually. But I guess it's okay because although my sleep gets disturb, I usually do not have difficulty falling asleep again. I just wonder what it is all about or what causes such dream. Cheers!

I kind of had a dream like that too. I fell like falling down, and then I suddenly jerk up/ wake up..kicking the bed or something. I've had those dreams a few times- 4 or more. I don't really know what the are or what they mean though.

I've seen a lot of this on line and on television. I read that it is caused by stress. Stress can make many adverse things to people.

The reason why you never hit the ground in your dreams is because it's something that you don't want to happen in reality. Your subconscious is still working and your mind does too perfectly well. I've had several dreams of falling and before hitting the ground I would just wake up then or the dream changed again.
