I think I miss the "big family thing" altogether. When I was little, Christmas was an occasion that was shared with aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents. We would all gather and eat a huge dinner. I haven't had a large family for a long time. I have my children and I take great joy in them on Christmas but I do miss the big family get together and playing with my cousins.

i miss that too. the older generations of our family had a feud and something happened that made us stop this christmas celebration like this. i can not recall what the reason was but we stop that big family thing. but me and my siblings at our mother's house we still do this every christmas. exchange gifts and eating and having fun. thank a lot for the response

hi se7enthbird I miss the town Christmas tree that stood in the center of oursmall town. I miss seeing Santa arrive in his motorixzed sled with some huge bags full of treats for everyone in town. then in later years in college the caroling and the hot drinks like chocolate with marshmallows and also singing in high school choir and church choir the blank, sneior moment will come back to me. oh yes the handel's Messiah in the alto section, such fun and it brought out the wonderful real meaning of Christmas.

wow your small town has something like that? do you still live there up till now hatley? if not, then i am sure you are missing it badly. does it snows at your town? the spirit of christmas differs when there is snow i guess. it doesnt snow in our country, though we have our own ways on celebrating it, it is also cool to see on tv how people with snow celebrates christmas. thanks a lot for the response

Yeah, I miss the exchange gift part with my siblings and cousins. We put up a Christmas party on the 24th, with parlor games and lots of food, too. That was so many years ago, and haven't done it again since the others started to have families of their own and I've got a job.

I miss being with my entire family like old. I was the youngest of the seven children, so having mom and dad and all of my siblings around when I was a kid was a wonderful blessing.
