Long response... long comment...

Hi everyone... I think all of us feel hard when to comment back to each responses we get in a discussion. Most often we have nothing to comment back to some responses as they are similar to others. As we don't wish to repeat the same views so hard to find out something different ( more hard to them whose vocabulary is poor like me, ). And it's our duty to comment back to each responses as we are serious mylotters. When i find a very long response then i became confused as i have nothing to say as long as he/she has written but don't wish to comment back with a few lines. Do you feel that we should give a long comment to a long response? or just to comment on his/her queries and give a thanks for his/her support with some lines regarding his /her response? Please share. N.B.- please don't give a long response. Take it easy.

i think the length isnt that important as long as the idea is there. long answers will only help in explaining and giving further details.

Hi hushi... You are right. The content is more important but sometimes i think they may get disappointed receiving a very short comment. Have a nice day.

Hi acey... Very true, as i have said that the content is more important than the length but sometimes i think that the respondent may be disappointed in receiving a short comment on his/her long response. Have a nice day..

Hi there Shibham! I believe that as what they have said, the content is much more important than the length of the response. As long as you answered the question that the discussion starter asked, then it's all good. That's better than having a really long response but not being able to answer the question posted.

Hi nanayangel... Nayan means eye in my local language. lol. Anyway, content is more important than the length. If someone is responding with some random subjects then you have nothing do unless commenting with a short para. It's true that sometimes a short discussion gets some long responses as well. Have a nice day.

Hello Shibham, I don’t think it is necessary to give a long comment for a long response. Usually I am giving a long comment for short response. In the beginning I can add my views which I could not include in the discussion (for making the discussion short). Finally it all depends on the ‘mood’ at the time when I am giving my comments back.

Hi Sree, I don't bother much about whether my comment is long or short. The length of the discussion or response wouldn't affect my response and comment respectively as well, for I would place my last full stop after I have nothing to share with anymore

Hi Shiby - long responses may actually draw shorter comment because the person may be sharing some personal experience. :) So - I am ok with long responses, and I dont feel obliged to offer long comment. I just go with what I feel. :)

Hi vandie... Yes, obligation is not necessary. Sometimes some respondents share some important views regarding your topic too, then it's too hard to satisfy him/her with a long comments. basically for me. Have a nice day.

I think we have to give an honest comment and it doesn't matter whether it's long or short. It's the sincerity of the comments and the interest in the discussion that matters most. Some people would make comments on other people's discussion without even reading the content, but just looking at the title. Worst of all some members post a comment even when they don't even know anything regarding the topic!

Hi toniganzon... Thats a nice task as a mylotter. perhaps, No one will be irritated if you give a polite comment with a few sentences. sincerity and friendship attitude are utmost important while commenting back to a response. He/ she has made your discussion successful, so you have nothing to complain but if he/she is too rude then should be treated with sentiment. i have seen it in one of your discussion, don't mind please Have a nice day.

As much as I wanted to really reply on all response in discussions I started, I can't do it since I only have a very short time here on mylot. And I am not really very much particular with poor vocabulary or what as long as we were able to communicate in a manner comprehensible to others. I hope I could get much time with mylot soon..

Hi longbangod... I too hope same for you. There is not a single response in my discussion where i have not commented back. I bet, haha. Anyway it's our responsibility to comment back at least with a short para. Have a nice day.

It is not necessary to give long responses to discussions. It is not even required, but if you feel that you know the topic and you have a lot to share then your response might become longer. Comments i have seen in mylot are usually short. A thank you can be enough already just to let him know that you appreciate his efforts. In other words it would be up to you, though they say that you would not be paid if you respond in one sentence only. I haven't seen the guidelines yet.

Hi triple... Sure. i agree that it's not necessary all the time. It's our duty to appreciate the efforts of respondents. I am also not sure that are there any rules or not against short comments. But, for me, i am not here for money at all so my first duty to satisfy my friends. Have a nice day.

i believe that the length is not important, but the stand and the opinion is what more important. sometimes, the questions only require us to respond shortly, and therefore we should respond accordingly. there are times when people responded too long but we can't see any good insights of it, but just mere ramblings. it's better to keep it precise and reasonable ^^

Hi chazzief... Agree again. The content is more important as it expose your thoughts regarding the topic. Actually i am not a one liner respondent but always tend to write a small para. So that repetition can't take place. Reasonable .... agree. Have a nice day.

I believe in keeping things short and sweet. Most of people I guess find it hard to read long stuff unless in some circumstances. So keeping things short won't trouble their eyes. :D

i think that if we either have nothing to say or we don't know what to say to the discussion or even if others have responded and what you would put is similar it is hard to put anything down. It therefore may just be easier to give atleast some form of a short response to show that you have atleast read the discussion. If somenbody is replying back to one of your own discussions and you have nothing else to reply with then i feel that it is only polite of you to atleast thank them for the response that they leave you. There are times when things have already been said or we can also but stuck for words, either way it does not need to be a long response, but something written down is obviously is better than nothing being put at all.

Hi craigy... Yeah... if you have enough to add in favor of that response or against, then it may take a long para. Always have to see how the respondent is relating him/herself with the topic that you have started. Have a nice day.

Hi craigy... That the point what i feel. I am a single liner commentator to a response if he/she is offensive in responding. I have done it a few times otherwise i am always try to write as much as i can but not too long as he/she has written. have a nice day.

i don't always write that much, i guess it really depends on the discussion they have and how many things it that they really menttion that we feel we can respond to. Some things can be answered in a couple of lines where some could be answered in 5 lines. Then you could have an answer to the discussion and then the persons personal experience of the discussion topic and so it could easily create more than 5 lines, i guess it really is down to the discussion topic and how much information they want from that with what they ask, all discussions are different.

There's no need for a long response. Me, i usually give responses on topics i only like. Sometimes, i get carried away i give lengthy comments . I guess, your mood also adds to the enthusiasm of answering discussions.

Hi simplyd... Yeah. it's true that sometimes commenting also rely on mood. If you are hurry enough and want to satisfy all the respondents, then you have no time to see whether it's long or short. Have a nice day.

One liner does not work here on Mylot to be considered as an answer. Well the response depend on how the member wanted to express his/her thoughts. What is important is that the question was been answered and is really related to the topic.

Hi chocodahi... I feel that you have got something wrong here. I am asking about your contribution to those long responses that you get in your discussions. One liner is also treated with not more than three lines by me. Have a nice day.

It isn't the length of the responses or comments, but the quality of them that maters. A user can post a lot of long responses, but they wouldn't be quality if they didn't relate to the discussion at hand, nor would they be quality, if they didn't have substance or be descriptive. A user can post a short response and it be worth more than a long one that isn't of a good quality. We all know that it is quality that mylot wants from us and not just quantity. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Hi rosekiss... sure, i agree. We should evaluate a response by it's quality and his/her proper speech regarding your discussion is the main viewing point. I have got some responses which are totally different from my discussions and are too narrative, i feel bore than and write a few lines asking him/her to reread the discussion. Sometimes my poor english also make them derailed. Have a nice day.

Hi shi... Just say whatever you want and what you can think of at that moment, just be precise and make sure that you answer the topic. Don't type words just for the sake of typing. What I said above was my style of answering posts, I don't usually give very long comments but I would try to avoid one-liners too unless I really do not have much to say but am still interested in the topic.

Hello, i can find your point of view, sometimes it's really hard to create some original and new response if the person who answered to your discussions write same things like the last, but with other words. But for me, it doesn't matter. If you are owner of some discussion, you can always make little changes on the way of the discussion, if you have nothing new to say at the same point. This is what i do. Sometimes i catch one word and make a response based on that word, never mind that the discussion will change it's own direction little bit, but the topic will stay the same, so it's o.k. for me.

Hi suggar... You have a fine point which me too follow sometimes. If i have to struggle to comment back to a long discussion, then sometimes i pick up a single sentence or word from that response and try to share my perceptions as far as i can. Native english speakers has no problem to cope with but i have. Have a nice day.

I see your point there but if you happen to start a new discussion and people would plainly reply to it without any sense, would you not feel bad about it? I guess some mylotters are simply cautious about their comments that they do not only want to give a comment on your discussion but they would want to share entirely what they know about about the subject matter. As for responding to it, well better not respond if you feel like you don't have anymore to say. I feel the same way that you do, I really appreciate people who give good responses in my lousy discussions but I cannot say any more further. Hence, I leave it that way or I may give one sentence or two. I know it doesn't count at all but I prefer saying just a simple thank with no credit rather not having reply-response for those responses. Keep cool pal! Happy mylotting!
