Is life in prison immoral?

I think life in prison as in being in prison forever is wrong. I say it is better to be in prison for 99 years then to be in prison forever. If you know how long forever is then you would understand what I am saying. I say every prison sentence should be finite. It is already bad enough to be in prison but to be in prison forever. It is no wonder many inmates are out of control. Why would an inmate want to better himself/herself/itself if they are never getting out? If there was no life in prison as in being in prison forever then maybe the prison system would be more motivate into rehabilitating the inmates. The reality is It will be cheaper to hold a prison for a limited amount of time then an unlimited amount of time. Even when a prisoner is in prison doesn't mean society is safe. Many prisoners can hurt society directly or indirectly whether it is calling someone on the phone to commit a crime or manipulating a prison guard into doing his/her/it bidding. Let me know why you agree or disagree with me.

I would have to agree with you. It will motivate an inmate if he will have a hope that he will still be able to free himself if he served his sentence.

Many inmates will be willing to follow to the rules in prison if they get something in return like getting out early.
