Why are bananas such a comical fruit?

Bananas are found in more jokes and comedy gags than any other fruit, in my experience. Why do you think this is? Is it the color? Strange, suggestive shape? Popularity? Or the catchy name? Banananananananana.... or something else entirely? I personally think it is the name that attributes the fruit to be comical; it's funny sounding, catchy, and who doesn't enjoy saying banana?

Considering how raunchy and mature most comedy is nowadays you are right. It is its shape and how easily it can be used in sexualy comedy skits. Anytime a referance is needed for such a body part a banana is the first that comes to mind. Also banana is a catchy funy word to say and can be rhymed with a lot as well.... banana wanna bo banna fe fi bo nana.. BANANA! haha

I just think that it is their popularity, colout, catchy name, and yes, strange suggestive shape. It is all of them together that makes it so fun! They are also the MOST popular fruits in the whole world! I know that I love them and eat them a lot. I have eaten a lot less of them these days, because they are quite raw here in France (just right now, right here, our bananas), and they just aren't as delicious... BANANAS RULE!

French bananas are raw - or rare? I seemed to think that the French banana was quite popular but I might be mistaken

No, no, no... Here in France they are quite RAW (like the show), like green... Actually... I don't know if they are French bananas, since in France, there are no banana trees... I know what you mean though, but they do eat them quite raw here. It might depend on the time of the year...

Could it be because it is universally known and recognised and used? At some point in their lives everyone tries it and therefore everyone would know what it was when it was mentioned wouldn't they?
