I have recently read a post in Yahoo! about plans of man to start civilization in Mars. We are all aware that there were recent studies conducted on Mars with the purpose of determining whether can can live on that planet. There were indications and possibilities that we can actually live on the planet because of existence of gravity and water.
There were group of scientists who have suggested that man should start thinking of inhabiting the planet considering its possibility. That idea was based on the premise that mankind may suddenly vanish due to the fact that asteroids and super nova possibilities may cause Earth to completely vanish. Having considered the possibility, those proponents have came up with an idea that it is about time that man should think of inhabiting places other than the Earth. It was sort of continuity plan for the existence of mankind.
However, the idea that has been proposed was a one-way flight to Mars. Meaning the person that will be sent is bound not to come back to Earth. He will try to experience living in Mars and subsequently start the civilization there. There were ideas about billionaires to be sent to explore the target planet.
What do you think about this? Are we that advanced to actually manage living in Mars? Would you want to be sent and actually live outside of Earth?

Mankind will have to solve lots of problems before moving to mars. Mars is too cold, not enough water, the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, the mars year is two years for earth. time is at a different rate, are we sure plants will grow under these conditions? There are also problems we don't even know about. with less gravity than earth, can mars hold an atmosphere? What about solar and cosmic radiation with the smaller atmosphere?? Don't get me wrong. One day mankind will colonize mars, however it won't be anytime soon.

I have a very different view on this subject. Mankind isn't very kind. People would have to change the way they live and think to live on another planet. If not then that planet will slowly be polluted and destroyed like this one.

I guess that would be cool. Living in Mars will be a whole new experience. New world, new environment, same people. Lol. I think it's great they're planning to do that. Before they dream about starting a civilization there, though, they should think for a solution on how they're gonna provide a new sun. The sun will disappear in a few billion years or so, from what I've read. We can't live without a sun.
