How should I design my new condo?

I just bought a tiny condo unit in the heart of the city, but I have no idea how to design it! I don't have enough money to hire a professional interior designer or to buy really expensive pieces. Do you have any ideas how to transform this bare space into a nice yet functional living area? I'm open to any design style, be it modern or old-fashioned.

Why don't you read blogs about interior design? (I am sure you can find ones specialized in specifically that kind of spaces too)
Free, and bound to give you tons of ideas.
Otherwise I would invest in a few good books or magazines on the matter, could also help.

I do have a few design magazines at home but they're showing the really expensive items I can't really afford on my current salary. Plus, I'm still paying the lease on this condo so I can't splurge on big items just yet. Blogs online mostly offer furniture that's not sold here in the Philippines, but I do like the design ideas. Maybe I'll just copy the design but look for cheaper materials. I look at tumblr and a couple of other interior design sites lately. Are there any you can recommend?

I would go to etsy.com. It's like ebay, but where you sell homemade items. They have a lot of decorative and inspirational ideas.
