Hello friends and lotters out there. Before I proceed washing and cooking later, let me ask you this first. How many of you out there who can't live without rice? At least daily in the meal...?
Well, this one is inspired by a TV Show here which informed us that half of the population in the world consume rice daily in their lives. Well, obviously I am one of those who cannot live without those cooked white grains.
Now, it has been your turn, and please take your place now, do you belong to rice lovers? And oh please don't whip my butt my B for starting this one happy mylotting guys...

Hi! I am not really sure with the yeast on bread, lol! Anyways, a favorite passage of mine says, "Man cannot live by bread alone..." Seriously, I think it depends with your eating habit, bread comes in different variety so it never bothered me, and it actually is a big help with my diet. Thanks, I am having fun with mylot! See yah! :-)

I am a certified rice addict myself, so I can't live without it obviously. I have it every day, ideally three times a day. I now work in a country where rice is not a staple food, but I always see to it that I have rice, no matter how expensive it is here. Gotta have my rice carbs!

Well, I don't need it on a daily basis... but I do have it probably about 4 or 5 times per week... I am really a fan of rice! I have it a lot, in comparison to most people out here, out in Canada... except for around me... about 40% of the population of my city is from Asia, so rice has really struck a cord with the people out here. It's good stuff! How can you go wrong with it?

Ohhhh no, we have some Philipinos out here, but the majority of the asian population is Chinese. Actually, half the units in my building I live in are owned by Chinese people.... one that doesn't speak any english... makes communication a bit difficult...

Yea I can't live without rice, our staple food in everyday life. Rice can be eaten with so many different delicacies and the blandness of rice makes it much more attractive because when mixed with other dishes, it creates some sort of balance and the food is tastier this way. I love rice and will always do.

Yes. I can live. I already tried this when i wan in Tokyo. I love indian rice, but couldn't get it in tokyo. I didn't like japanese rice. So i decided to take other items like chicken, bread, fish etc., without rice. After 3 months, it became usual.

I am from Goa, India. If you are not familiar with the map, It falls on the western coast of India just bellow Mumbai. We Goans or for that matter the people staying along the entire sea coast are rice and fish eaters. It is their staple food and they can't replace it with anything else anywhere in the world they go.

I can quite easily live without rice really. I seem to prefer many many other foods over rice. I guess that when i was growing up i never really had it that often and it is still the same now really. If i was to buy rice in then it would only be because i would want to use it with a curry or with sweet & sour sauce. Other than that i never really bother with it. Don't really feel that there is much taste to it, i guess i only really ever buy about one medium size bag a year. I think that rice is pretty well priced but i just don't see much of a need for it and i certainly would not eat it on it's own, i would need a sauce that fully covers the rice so that i can mix it together as the rice then tastes that bit better.

I would agree that if i were raised like you then i would possibly miss it. I think this goes for everyone really, i guess the more we eat diffent foods when younger the less fussy we arelater in life, although if we only stick to a few things then we tend to maybe stay that way as it is what we have always been used to, guess id liked to have had more opportunity to have tried many more different foods when i was younger.

Oh yes, I belong to the rice lovers club. About a week ago I bought a 15 pound sack of Basmati and had absolutely not problem with the fact that my boyfriend didn't need any. In fact, I'm not having to split the sack with anyone and that's just fine with me.
I suppose if I had to live without rice I would, but I would be a very very unhappy camper.
I love the versatility of it. If I had it 7 days a week I could make it 7 different ways. Now that's fun!!!

I live in the USA. My Mother hated rice. She felt it had no taste and took too much work to make it have any. About once a year, we had rice pudding. My husband was in the military. He lived in Korea. HE gets upset if we don't have rice once a week. So I've gone from one a year to once a week. Big diffeence. I just wait until something has lots of broth and pour it over the rice. Like soup, chili, etc. Strangely enough, my husband doesn't like rice pudding. Go figure.

Even rice is one of the important food here in Asia. I think without is not the reason for me not live. There are many alternatives to live if happen there is no rice anymore or no supply of rice.
Well, I want to say I can live without rice

I could live without rice such as by consuming noodles, bread etc..but after a few hours i still feel hungry. So I think I need plenty of them and eating rice is a way too adapted in most Filipino household just good to the appetite so easily absorb though their are many food which have the same benefit containing the same carbohydrates that is contain in rice. The truth eating rice with delicious food they are such an excellent match. However if rice is available I could practice eating food aside from rice just to satisfy my hunger than to go with empty stomach..

I'm a typical Asian who basically lives with the stereotype of not being able to live without rice, lol.. however it's been a while since I stopped myself from eating it, as excessive carbs, if not used by the body will later on be converted to fats, and I don't want that... not that I'm not eating the aromatic, hot, soft (ugh I lost it) white grains anymore, but I just don't cook them by myself. Nowadays I just eat it during events, celebrations or festivals because people would usually cook them during these occasions.. which are not very rare :p

Lol 3 times? That's quite a lot , hehe .. however it really depends, of you use your daily energy adequately there shouldn't be any problem I guess..
plus rice is cheap in Asia.. no wonder we eat it so often. lol
