I was just reading online that Prince William popped the question to his girlfriend of 8 years. I think this is great. How does everyone else around the world feel?

It isn't really a surprise as their relationship has been very strong for years - her parents went to meet the Queen at Balmoral last week so I guessed it was on the cards!

Hi Nadinest, I'm a bit of a Royal Watcher as I come from the old school and I was happy to hear the news earlier today. There is sure to be much talk about the big event during the next few months. I hope that they have found true love that lasts a lifetime. Blessings.

I've always found royalty interesting, even though I'm American. I just hope they've discussed everything that being married to a prince means. From what I understand it's a completely different life and not all glitz and glamor. And even being in love, there's still an adjustment to someone not born into it. Still, after dating for eight years they should both know what they want and have some idea of how life will be for them as a married couple. And with any two people, I hope they're happy.

I think that William will have learnt a lot from what his mother went through with the press and everything, he seems a really nice down to earth man.

We knew it was eventual. I'm just wondering if it will be televised here in the US just as his later Mother's had? I'm not fond of her but Diana's boys certainly grew up to be handsome especially William.

I'm sure it will be broadcast in the US...and I positive it will be shown here is Canada - since the queen is our Queen. I am looking forward to watching it.

They make a lovely couple and if they are happy, then I'm happy for them as well! There will probably be a lot of fuss around them, so I just hope they will manage somehow till the wedding. I would hate it if the media attention made Kate uncomfortable...

i can't really believe he did , cause he seems like a very irresponsible young man. But if he actually did, well, then it's great.

No, I don;t think he is irresponsible either. He has a lot of the same charming qualities as his mother did.

I have never understood the fascination with the royals. I am not unhappy for him, but neither am I aflutter with excitement.

I'm not a Royals watcher, so don't really care, but if they've been together for eight years, it's probably a good match.

It is about time Prince William popped the question! I heard he gave his girlfriend his mom's engagement ring! I thought that was so sweet! I wonder what Charles thought! When they interviewed the couple Prince William said he waited so long to popose was to have his girlfriend get use to the life of a royal! I am glad he did that! When Charles married Daina it took her sometime to get used to the life and never really liked it! Prince Andrews ex,Sarah Ferguson never fit in! She tried but she never was meant to be! I think Prince William and his finance are together forever! They also will need all the luck they can handle! You have to if you are a royal or marry into that family!

I definitely can't say that I am shocked about it, in fact I think that it is a great thing. His fiancee is such a beautiful girl. What I must say that I am the most interested in is the fact that the common girl is going to be transformed into a princess in her life. I hear that the wedding is going to be sometime next summer and I'm sure that it will be much the same kind of spectacle that the wedding of his parents was so many years ago.

I am going to look forward about the date of their wedding and put it on my planner that I am going to watch it live. As what we did to Princess Diana we were watching her burial live. I am going to expect that this is gonna be very overwhelming and people in London will watch it.

i think 8 years is a long time to know someone, so hopefully she will be happier marrying into royalty than diana was. william did say that his mother once told him to marry his best friend and he was doing so. i hope they will be very happy and the old lady will be kind to her.
