College Tuition, Courts and Corruption

The California Supreme Court has just decided that illegal immigrants do not need to pay out of state tuition fees at colleges and universities. Their logic is that because the in-state fees are available to some U.S. citizens, they can also be available for illegal immigrants from another country. This is like the perfect example of why someday, somehow we are going to have to gut the court system of our land. First of all the logic of this argument is stupid. Of course in-state students can be charged in-state fees. That is what the definition of in-state vs. out-of-state has always been. What these brilliant judges have set up now is that if I live in Oregon, I will most likely have to pay out-of-state tuition, while an illegal immigrant from Mexico can pay the lower in-state rate. Depending on the interpretation, and the details of the original case, this may be as much the fault of the colleges who do not want to make an illegal immigrant pay out-of-state fees. Would you agree, however, that the cart is before the horse? Why are illegal immigrants (criminals) going to college in the U.S. anyhow? They should be on a one-way bus trip to Mexico. Why is the Supreme Court of California totally non-caring about immigration law? Why are they helping the criminals in their crime? Next question - So happy we are that the illegals get the lower tuition rate, but how are they going to pay it? Do they really have that much money? Next thing you will be telling me that they can apply for financial aid in the same way as a U.S. citizen. Don't, or I may come right through your monitor! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40201035/ns/us_news-life

Every time I read something like this, it just infuriates me. What in the world is going on out in California? How do they put so many idiots and morons in charge out there? What are they thinking, giving illegals preferential treatment over legal American citizens? What kind of convoluted thinking is that? It's beyond comprehension that any thinking person would come to the conclusion that they did in this case. It's ludicrous and an insult to all Americans who have now, at the hands of the California Supreme Court, become second class citizens to non-citizens from another country. I just can't find words strong enough to define this idiocy. I thought they were beyond hope out there on the "left" coast when they re-elected Nancy Pelosi, but this is just over the top. I've heard of states talking about seceding from the Union but can we do it in reverse? If enough of us vote on it, can we just kick California out of the United States? Maybe we could give them to France...

Americans need to be well aware of this kind of thing, as government agencies need to be mindufull of the power that the American voter still holds.

Whenever I hear/read about these stupid laws and loopholes, three words come to mind... "Only In America"

When it comes to court decisions, I'm getting a little nervous about "Made in America", but I don't know who does it better. Sharia law can be more efficient, but I'm not a fan of that either. Thanks for your comment.

If they want federal financial aid then they have to register for the Selective Service, unless a judges rules that they don't have to because they are not US Citizens.

Personal opinion here: If you are just talking about signing up for Selective Service, that is not enough for me. If you are talking about them doing a 4-yr stint in the military, I might consider it. Thanks for your comment.

This only adds to the fact that the stupid "Dream Amnesty" will allow illegals to get citizenship if they go to college....Go figure!

This is totally ridiculous! I can understand allowing the children of illegal immigrants to go to school because they are children and are not responsible for the crimes of their parents but a college education? Here's a thought...GET LEGAL! Go through the process of obtaining a student visa and pay the same tuition any other non-citizen of this country pays.

A little softer than what I proposed, but better than it is probably going to turn out. Maybe I can be convinced if they swear they will never vote for a democrat (just kidding). Thanks for a comment.

It really does peeve me off sometimes reading similar stories as this. I live in Georgia and the one major thing I just can't stand here is the factor that this illegal immigrant who openly admitted on public TV/news shows that she did swim across the border but got pulled for not having a driver licenses. The court verdict was she got three days in jail and would be allowed to finish her education before being deported. I would had thought border control would had said " oh well we need to take you back across anyway..." but no she is still using our state money to go to college.

That is a good example of the same issue. We cannot let the law of 'political correctness' be telling us how to handle these situations. We really do not owe illegal immigrants anything other than humane treatment on their way back home. As has been the pattern, I imagine the democrats see the pot of money called 'financial aid' as infinite in size. For those in the real world, the money available for financial aid is limited, but I only know the perspective of a white person. Thanks for you comment.

Yeah...people do finally seem to be waking up to what the activist judges have been doing to corrupt the system for decades, & I daresay are getting in the mood to put a stop to it. I'll be right in there with them, doing whatever it takes--including spreading the word about such tools as "jury nullification." I wonder how many people know it's possible for the jury to over-ride bad judgments from these arrogant clowns in black robes? Study up, folks. You have rights. Use them!
