Kidney Failure and Folklore

So my dad was told he had a failing kidney the other month and it has been hard on him ever since. The doctor claims that he is too obese to get a transplant done as well. With less than a 25% functioning kidney I dread the end is near for him sadly. I saw a news article on TV the other day that mentioned the hairs on corn are good for the kidney. What other folk lore tales have you heard that help the organs or even maybe share your story.
