Is being skinny an advantage in this "ideal" and "hollywood" world.

Hi. I think that in this perfect world, full of sexbombs and celebrities who show the trends, people try get fit, skinny, healthy. But not always skinny means healthy as sometimes you can get sick (bulimia, anorexia etc) . Do you think its necesarry to be thin to get a better job? I see myself as a normal weight person but some of the people find me thin but for example my family thinks im too "fat" cuz i eat too many sweets and just sweets.... What do you think?

I agree with the fact that being in a good weigh is healthy, i doesn't have to be skinny, each body got it's own perfect weigh. I might sound weird, when i'll tell you this, but skinny women like those models, do not get my attention, i like the woman who have some meat over her bones,LOL.

Although it's not fair, I do think that people value thin more than "average" or overweight. In the media, thin people are more often looked up to and praised because that's what's seen as beautiful. It's the same sort of thing with people who are taller. I think it's actually been proven that taller, more attractive people are hired more frequently than "average." It's not fair, but our society bases a lot of things off first looks. For me, I don't think skinny is healthy. Skinny has a negative connotation of weakness and unfitness. I'd rather be called "lean", or "thin" or "fit." Skinny carries a different connotation, but I do think it's something society values. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be so many women (young and old) desperate for diet tips and magic pills to get them "skinny."

It shouldn't affect whether or not you get a job, or have a good one. That would be discrimination. The only thing I can think of that might stand in your way (if you're fat) is low self-esteem, but that's an "internal" rather than "external" problem if you ask me. Sometimes I feel like this though..That I would take more risks and really go after what I wanted if I weighed 20 pounds less. I think that's really the only thing in our way, is ourselves and our mentality. Some people can be 110% confident with themselves, being overweight... And I am about 60% there. LOL

Hello agantita, I am just going to give my opinion about being skinny. I don't find skinny people(women) attractive. Like when flaunt their bodies on TV, i don't like to see prominent ribs. I like healthier girls, coz um, they are healthy, lol. I want my girlfriend to eat as much she can, but not get overweight, please? She is so conscious of her tummy and getting overweight. I saw some of her older photos and she had so thin hands. She doesn't like to have milk and butter and all those for the sake of her weight, and i say geez please you don't need to. Sometimes when she talks about her weight i ask "Who else do you want to impress, hmm?" She says "Just for my satisfaction." LOL. Eat well and stay healthy, don't get too skinny or obese.

We have to accept the fact that skinny is in especially in the modelling world, that is a sad fact actually, but we have to know that healthy body must be a priority.
