Do you watch cartoons along with your children or just leave them on their own?

Watching cartoons are the stuffs kids love, we all do when we were kids as well. Right now, with my 2 kids, if I have nothing to do, I watch cartoons with them. It might sound ridiculous sometimes because we watch the cartoons all over again and you get to memorize all the songs and stories like Dora, Tom and Jerry, Barbie, etc... What about the rest of you?

i grew up watching cartoons, my parents disapproves keeps telling me i would not mature since i am watching too much/many "children/kids shows". i would like to say that the second best lesson (first one came from my parents) i learned came from the cartoons/kids show i watched when i was young. to name few of my favorites: sesame street, the muppet show, gummy bears, shortails, smurfs and others. i did not gain am imaginary friend, but i felt someone understood me and went to all the trouble and created those movies for me. and that as a child i felt there are lots of wonderful things around that could possibly exist. and in order for me to be respected i need to respect others as well. with my child what my wife and i usually do is watch the movie first before we let our child see it. if the values are confused and focused on being selfish and simpleminded we do not let our son see it lest he enjoy the humor and ask/crave for it. it does not really matter if it is played over and over, what is important is that we know what he is watching and it is positive in humor and values.

I watch cartoons with my daughter too. I have always loved cartoons and now they show some of the older cartoons, which she loves as well. It works for both of us I think. As for the songs, we sing those too.

When my children were little TV time was very limited, so I always made it a point to sit alongside them. This way we could bond in happy moments together and I could monitor what was being watched.

if ever i would have my own children...i would do the same thing as you do with your children.
because by means of that stuff you can get along with them and at the same time it can help you also to be close to your children, and watching cartoons is a good bonding moment to have with you and your children.
