Which is better? Halo Reach or Call of Duty: Black Ops?

I have not played either but have played all of the previous entries in each games history. I like them both a lot and hadn't put much thought into which was better until recently. I read a debate between two friends on facebook. The argument became pretty heated before I stepped in with my super objective perspectives and mediating skills.
Personally though, I enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops far more than I enjoy Halo Reach. I enjoy the more believable weaponry and technical, gritty feel of Black Ops. Halo Reach is just too cartoony for me
which do you prefer?

Call of duty: black ops and halo reach. two very successful games which have been an hit foem their respective first installments. even though the the common thing in them is combat, i feel both games are two poles apart. halo gives an outworldy experience, while COD is an human-human battle done very realistically. i think we mustn't take these two for comparison on the basis of realism as halo is meant to be 'cartoony'.i enjoy playing both these wonderful games and think you too will do the same.

Personally, I prefer Halo overall over Call of Duty.
With Halo, I enjoy the funny little things and the Easter Eggs Bungie puts in the games, and the campaign is far better to me - the story, the feeling, seemless online and offline co-op - it just feels "right." Not to say Black Ops' is bad (it's not). But Halo, to me, has the perfect blend of arcadishness and comedic value.
As far as multiplayer, I'm a bit biased because I'm MUCH better at Reach than I am at CoD. I've never fully adjusted to the controls on Black Ops and I haven't yet even looked to see if I can map them myself. I will say the COD has taken great leaps and bounds to close the multiplayer gap.

Well I think that each side has its pros and cons. Halo has a far more interesting campaign as well as co-op features. However, Black ops has a far better multiplayer style with complete customization of your class and weapons. It may take a while to get used to though if you are not used to shooter games. Hope this helps.
