Hello mylotters.
I can't take it anymore. My brother got sick. I am pretty sure it's a virus. He had a fever. My dad got all worried and gave him an antibiotic. I was so shocked. He had a fever and he needs an antipyretic not an antibiotic. Then my mom contracted the disease a day after. She was given an antibiotic again. Gosh! I tried telling that it should be an antipyretic but dad insisted an antibiotic. I am so mad. Then after that dad got sick. He took an antibiotic again. Now they are taking Salbutamol, an antiasthmatic. Good luck for their liver and lungs! I am expecting one of them to experience a convulsion. But I am hoping that's not gonna happen.
I am a nurse by the way. I don't know why dad forced me to study nursing and wont believe what I say. I am torn between my duty as a nurse and my role as a daughter. I just can't shout at my dad.
I read this article http://healthmad.com/health/antibiotics-are-not-for-common-colds/
I hope my dad will read it someday. They are increasing their resistance from certain microbes. :(

I can relate to your feeling. It is so difficult to deal things with the elders. They would not want to listen and still have a tight hold on their belief that they are the parents who knows best for the kids. They don't even come to think that their children are no longer kids, actually you're a nurse now and still don't believe on you. Whewww, you just can't yell at them for the fact that they are your parents. Just have more patience and hug them instead.

Your dad doesn't listen to you because he believes that he's still older than you and no matter how you explain things, you'll remain as his baby girl. I guess your dad got used to taking antibiotics that's why he finds it effective. There were just instances when we don't easily face adjustments.
