Today, the House democrats have decided to once again designate Nancy Pelosi as their leader. She will be the House Minority Leader starting in January.
I find that amzaing! It is a blatant example of how far out of touch the democrats of Congress are, and how little they care about the voice of the people.
What do you think about it?

As a side note, it seems that James Clyburn ran into a glass ceiling in his desire to be the #2 man.

...Hi there djbtol, Well there is no guessing game when you read the comments posted here so far. For forty years there was no health care in this country, she is the reason it passed. Also the finance reform billand everything else they got through. The woman is smart and knows how to get the votes needed to get things done. Why was the vote one-hundred and whatever to thirty something for her to be the leader? Who else could do as well.... NOBODY!? They know who has the goods and all of the negativity means not one thing. Most of the time leaders have to make the hard, tough choices. Ever look back and see how much public protest there was over the passage of Social Security and Medicare? Try to take them away from people now. So keep opinning about Ms Pelosi being such a bad choice as she keeps doing a great job. In addition the GOP has done a great job getting people to vote against their own best interests, so very interesting on its face. Now they want to give the rich more money when they don't need it but those who need unemployment benefits are tough out of luck if they are waiting for the GOP to extend them. So very humane of them. So keep on trucking. Cheers

"For forty years there was no health care in this country"
Tell that to the 84% in this country with health insurance and the additional 10% of so that are qualified for other forms of assistance like medicaid. By the way, are you saying that prior to 1970 there was some sort of health care that we no longer have?
"The jobs losses outweighed the jobs created, result not one job created."
If that's how you count "jobs created" than Obama hasn't created a single job either until unemployment drops below 7.6%. Good luck waiting for that to happen.
A lot of what you said are flat out delusions which I won't even bother to ask you to back up. These two are just the most laughable that I'd love to hear you explain.

....That's how the jobs are counted Mr. knita, that's why we are still in negative territory as far as total jobs are concerned. But who is talking about Obama, so obsessed? Do you give him credit for saving GM with their big biklion dollar payback to the government, No! I'm sure not. "o) And what pray tell were all the presidents fighting to pass universal health care for 40 years and couldn't get it done? You well understand the concept Mr. kita. So please don't keep sending me quotes of what I write with your absurd criticisms. You are pitiful and can't or won't even admit when you ARE WRONG, BUT THEN YOU ARE NEVER WRONG, ARE YOU? RECIPROCAL, RECIPROCAL. I refuse to answer anything you send so save your critque please.
Please don't answer. You were buggibg other people ... go back to where ever you were. Please. "o) I am one of the most aware people around but your big time ego wants to cut up anyone who dumps on your idiot GOP's like Saralee or Joe Scarb. You can have them over for dinner, such evil, heartless people. Cheers.

Hey, Your last point first, sure give the rich the money. But how about people who are losing their homes and such. The GOP just voted or didn't votetoday to extend unemployment benefits for those who are out out work? That's a sensible thing right? But they want to extend monies for the rich, sad it is.
The Dems could have voted her out, the proof is in the pudding. The woman is strong and a good leader, just a matter of opinion.
Health care good here? Sure it is for all those who can afford it and do. All those people who have to go to hospital emergency room don't think so, while the cost skyrockets for everyone else who have to pay for the costs of such treatment. Stimulus bill it cost much, much less than originally thought. GM just put out an IPO which will be giving back some 13.5 billion dollars as a return on investmest to the government.
During the years of the Bush administration and his tax cuts to the rich W did not create one job, not one. The jobs losses outweighed the jobs created, result not one job created. So much for the rich creating jobs.
So many false assumptions based on as I said GOP propaganda, but all people are entitled to their own opinions and interpretations. But reality is reality. You take care, thanks for the conversation. Cheers.

I guess they really want Republicans to win two years from now. I kind of do feel sorry for James Clyburn, he really wanted that #2 spot.

I think Hoyer is a real Pelosi lap dog. Seems to me that became evident when Pelosi originally got the majority seat.
I might feel sorry for Clyburn, if it wasn't for the fact that the Black Congressional Caucus almost gagged when they found out they now had two conservative Black Congressmen. In the end, I believe they did decide to let the two newcomers play too.
Does Black = democrat? (I'm talkin outside the voting booth)
So if they want to have a black democrat congressional caucus, they should call it that. Up till now they have just presumed that any black congressman would be a democrat. Sorry, that interesting tidbit just fell out.

No problem. Interesting little fact. I did know that there were a few Republicans as members it is just that they don't seem to get quite as much press for their unusual status.

Apparently, to the House Democrats, failure IS an option. ;~D

Years ago they were called Communists. They are getting so far left it is not funny. They should choose a more moderate leader and not someone who will take away America's freedoms.

I think that Nancy Pelosi is a wise choice for minority speaker! The lady is very effective!

Come to think about having her as the minority speaker will let Americans know what they should fight against.

It really is baffling, but whatever. The republicans got smacked down in 2008 and learned that it might be a good idea to actually listen to the voters and at least PRETEND to care about fiscal responsibility and the constitution. Democrats I guess are just a little too full of themselves and some are so stupid they don't even seem to realize that they lost because voters were not happy with the agenda they were pushing.

If I remember correctly, Pelosi almost seemed to be going off her rocker before the elction. Maybe she has cooled down to some level of sanity now.
One thing we know about Pelosi is that for her sake and the sake of her party, she will fight day and night against everything the American people voted for.

I fully expected the democrats to stick with Pelosi. It proves to me what I've been saying for a while now which is that the progressives and the democrat party as a whole has moved to the extreme left. There is no denying that Pelosi is a little left of socialist so what does it tell you about the party when such a majority supported her?
I think that over the last 20 years or maybe more, there has been a shift of both parties leftward. The democrats of years ago wouldn't be accepted into the party as it is today. Likewise the republicans have moved leftward and have become more moderate than they used to be, generally speaking. A prime example is John McCain. Another example is their recent willingness to increase the size of government and government spending.
I believe it's also why there has been an uprising of people disillusioned with both parties. It's what has given rise to the tea party and an increase in the number of people discovering and identifying with the Libertarian party. The democrats/progressives have clearly been trying to push this country toward socialism and people are revolting against that push.
The fact that they are supporting Pelosi so strongly shows that they want to continue to push us in that direction. It's very clear that they do not care what the people want. They believe that the government knows best and should run everything the way THEY think it should be run. This is a socialist or even communist ideal, that the government or ruling class should run things the way they see fit, the people be damned.
I think a large majority of people realized this and showed it at the polls. I also think that as the democrats continue following Pelosi down the socialist path, more and more people will open their eyes and it will show in the next election. I'm glad they are showing their extremism so plainly for people to see. It gives people a clear choice in 2012, socialism or freedom.

I totally agree. I think your assessments are right on. Are there any conservative democrats left? If so, then few.
For those who are watching, these next two years may tell much. Will those in the GOP be willing to carry out the 'more conservative agenda' the voters are expecting?
Will the democrats continue their persistent move toward the far left?
The answer to these questions may mean that the voters will have to further drain the swamp in 2012. Might as well give obama some company when he gets flushed!

Actually, I see this as a good thing. Now she can finish the destruction of the democrats as her out of touch ideology leads the rest of them over the cliff.

I think its great that they voted her in, it does show that they are so out of touch with the American people and its because they are Socialists! Of course they are out of touch, but not out of reach, that was proven on November 2, 2010. She is an idiot and what ever comes out of her mouth will be fodder for all the newspapers because nobody, and I mean nobody, backs a losing horse. They may still have Congress but they are going to spend the next two years saying "No" to all the GOP proposed legislation that repeals every stupid thing Obama has done to the American people.

Well I do hope Pelosi and gang continue to be as incompetent for the next two years, as they were for the previous four.
Remember how she was going to 'sweep the House' of corruption?
Guess she need a bigger broom!
If she asked me, I would recommend that she go the doctor and see if she can get her next face job ordered.
