sudden pain after root canal for a year?

Hi Just wanted to ask has anyone ever experienced it? I had a root canal on my front left teeth. I had to do it since it was the front tooth it would look ugly if it was extracted instead. Anyway the root canal procedure was a success I think since it has been over a year already. But now I have been experiencing sudden toothache again on the said tooth. It's not brutally painful but it occurs frequently. And when I eat or drink something hot my teeth is in pain. Did that ever happen to you? What do you think might have caused it. I am going to the dentist tomorrow but I just wanted feedback if anyone knows why it's happening or if anyone experienced it?
