Reality Shows - Is there anything real?

Hi Friends, Now a days some reality shows are making headlines because of some bad reasons. Govt asked few channels to broadcast there prime time reality shows after 11 pm and still they are not doing after 1 day of the order. I have been watching Big Boss reality show and every day there is a new drama, some people say it is all scripted and every contestent is playing as per script or role given to them but I fell no one can act that good. 60-70 % of the people in the house are bad and use abusive language all the time. They will flirt, fight, abuse, gossip and above all cheap politics and affairs. Reality shows sell fake things to viewers, fake marriage, fake affiar and who knows if all those fights were fake, I think fights were original. Now Pamela has entered the house, god knows what is next :-) what do you think about these realitry shows? DO you think they are real as they appear to be? Do you believe in the affair and fight ? Thank You.

I think reality shows just massage the egos of has-beens and wannabes. IMHO, they are a waste of space which make loads of money out of people who have nothing better to think about than phoning in to vote to watch more of the same tedious drivel. They may not be scripted but they are certainly staged and manipulated. As far as I'm concerned, their sole benefit is to get us to use the "off" switch (I've never seen the one you mention so cant comment specifically)

These shows are just time pass and I not feel that they show any reality at all. That may be scripted. Thank You for sharing.

The show's security Had to break up many a fight . And the girl who started the fight had to stay atva hotel over night! And then there is Real World. This time 7 people , guys and girls , live together. They tape everything and it is edited but the friendships and the enemies that are formed Are real and last Way after the show!

I think Reality Shows are slightly more real than most things on television. As in completely scripted shows. However, they are still faker than what most would consider to be reality. Obviously, whether a reality show or completely scripted, there is the same goal in mind. That being the fact you have to keep an audience throughout the entire thirty minutes or hour and if you don't, then you'll be in trouble. There are times where real life is exciting. There are even more times that it is not exciting. Therefore they are going to script some stuff that does in fact some basis in reality. Now I hazard a guess that certain shows are more scripted than other shows in the reality show. I rarely watch them however. When I do, I tend to feel myself drawn to those "reality shows" that are so obviously scripted that it isn't funny. Because in the end, I watch television to escape reality.

True, TV serials and movies also does not show much happening on ground, they sell dreams. I believe that Reality shows does not seem to be real because of editing, it's on the channel as to what they want to serve to the audience. Thank you for sharing.

Reality shows such as 'Big Boss' are encroachment on other people's time. It does nothing to add to your knowledge or does not provide any form of entertainment. Most of the celebrities who are there can give better performance in serials they act. The great Khalli draws people because people are curious. Pamela Anderson would raise the TRP because people would want to see how she would do the sweeping and if that does not amuse the audience then she might do little swabbing too.

Watching Big Boss for GK purpose is total waste, one can get to know some details about the member's life and some good or bad but again who knows that whatever they tell in teh show is true ? Thank You for sharing.

dats true!! I think reality shows are definitely scripted. But what I cannot understand is why do people like to watch them? Especially shows like Big Boss, which promote nothing but ill feelings and highlight the gray shades of mankind. Gone are the days of simple, light comedy shows which provided entertainment sans scandals

I am not a big fan of reality tv shows. I haven't watched any, with regularity in forever. At this point, I think it's just a bunch of people looking for 15 minutes of fame. Some of the fighting may be real! I agree with you. Depends on if they want more attention.

Well, it is difficult to say what is or is not real in a reality show. I'm sure that most of it is not actually purely real. Although, perhaps in some cases it is or at very least might well be.

Hi Ajay Singh Baghel: I don't like reality shows and I agree with you, they are really good at making these dramas but this doesn't mean that they are real. They have their own scripts and in fact, some of these contestants are actor or models. After watching some realitis I know that these fights are fake... they discuss the same problems and act the same way. It must be fake. ALVARO

They are fake and most of the contestents are struggling to be successful and that is why they have enough time to be locked in the Big Boss house. Thank you for sharing.

If I am going to talk about the reality shows here in our country, I can definitely say they are scripted. That's why I dont like watching it. The only reality tv shows I watch, are the ones they have in America.

No! It is reality, not actuality! There is a huge difference. For instance, you can really bowl, play tennis, etc. on Nintendo Wii. But you are not actually bowling or playing tennis!

I am not familiar with the series you mentioned but to answer your question - the only thing real in reality shows is that it is usually the character's motives are usually monetary or fame (and notoriety). The characters themselves are not realistic - they have to be scripted or designed to have a good balance of TV. A show with only bad guys is a boring concepts. Same applies to good guys. So producers often mix up personalities, see how they can work together and launch a show. A good show has to have drama and conflict to keep it on ratings and on top of people's minds. That's the reason w y I don't watch these kind of shows because they have a fakeness and at the same time, the plot (and the winner) is pretty predictable. it is just the kinda of genre that sells but really does nothing to contribute to television or its audience.

So much fussed up tricks and acting happen on reality shows. I remember that a person named Adriann participated in America's Last Catch reality show, and he did something really impossible. He found one of the most exquisite world war two military antiques in the middle of the ocean, and I really thought that this was staged. When there was no mention of a company or authority that owned it, I believed that it was probably made by one of the producers or bought in by staff.

Am against all reality shows, i strongly believe they are all faked, yes they are scripted in order to increase the viewers, i cant believe people fall for that...actors are paid money to act like, (only if your good actor do they take you in)....well this my personal view, i could be wrong also...
