polyphasic sleep is the idea of sleeping mulitple times a day in short intervals rather that one long sleep at night. the idea is to have more hours in the day and spend less time sleeping but to achieve adequate rest to keep you active and going through the day and night. I have a friend who has recently decided they are going to try it but i really dont know how i feel about it, it doesnt affect me, just wanted to know peoples general opinions. or if people have tried it or have more information about it

I know it didn't work out well for Kramer from Seinfeld... I haven't tried this specifically, but I have found in recent months to be able to sleep and wake as I choose. My biggest downside is it makes the night very long. I have also found that if I am not tired it is very hard to force myself to sleep at a given time. The only draw back to a lifestyle as you describe is I believe I would have to be in a perpetual state of tiredness to be able to take small interval naps. I don't think I could sleep otherwise. I have also found that when I do need a nap, I am mentally more exhausted then i am physically. This often causes me to be useless until I finish my "power nap". Again, this could just be my personal cycle, but i know for me personally, this concept would not work and I would become all but useless...and I am not that useful right now...LOL
