TV Licence - UK should it carry on?

I have a television and therefore by law I'm required to have a licence (and yes I have got one lol).
It has made me very cross this year buying a new one as I watch TV so infrequently and I can't get digital. I know it is to fund the BBC but surely in this day and age they can raise the funding the same way all other TV stations do.
What are your thoughts?

... and I would add that you would have to jump through hoops to prove that you own a TV simply to watch videos.
I believe that people who sell TVs have to pass on the names and addresses of purchasers to the TV Licensing authority. The only way round that would be to buy a second-hand set.
They also use detector vans which can pinpoint any house which is operating a TV set.

So you a buy license to fund the BBC? Silly question: How do they track who does and doesn't have a TV?
I think that they should find a better way to find the BBC. Carry a license is silly. I am sure you paid some kind of tax on the TV, why can't they use that.

I agree totally! Television licence fees each year make me mad too. I use the internet much more than I watch T.V and I enjoy it more too. This world has gone crazy!! ;-)
