anyone have traditions like this on your country?

in my place, we have many tradition. one of interesting tradition is "meriam karbit". it meaning cannon that made from a big wood, and can make a sound like a real cannon this traditions held on a few feast day. you can see the picture of this tradition by type "meriam karbit" on google, and searh the picture. any people around the world have same tradition like my place too? I wondering If this tradition is endemic to my place only. who knows..... thanks......

cannon in my place called "meriam". if we want to hear explosion sound, but not dangerous to us, we can use Calcium carbide and water for the ingredients and called "karbit" on my place. the wood cannon filled with little water, and fill the the Calcium carbide too by insert it to the cannon fuse hole, the Calcium carbide will react to the water, and produce a gas, close the hole for a while by something that wet, and ignite by fire torch when it opened. the fire will react by the gas, and bang!!!!!!!!! the wood cannon fire the load. I think I just to try explain it, sorry if it's not clear enough to you.
