Did you see this? An article on yahoo states that a minimum of 2 cups of caffeinated coffee helps fight several kinds of cancer. Brain, prostate, breast were among them! WOW! How much coffee do you drink in the morning? And if you don't drink it, would this make you start?

I don't know if there is a difference between instant and brewed. Funny thing is, I turned on the tv a bit ago, and there was Dr. Oz saying the same thing about caffeinated coffee.

I'm definitely a coffee drinker... always have been... I start when I wake up and drink it until I go to bed LOL I make about 2 pots a day - although, quite often, I will not completely finish my cups. I assume, though, not having seen the article (I looked but didn't find it yet - do you have a URL?), that the key is the caffeine somehow? I had to switch to decaf because of my blood pressure... I wonder if any of the benefits still exist in decaf? I'll have to do some research on that. Thanks for a thought-provoking discussion, ersmommy1 :) Are you a coffee drinker yourself?

I don't know if the key is in the caffeine.. otherwise they'd say any caffeinated drinks like soda and tea. Though they probably process the coffee bean in some way to make it decaf, so it would lose some of the antioxidants and other "good stuff" in the process.

That's what I'm thinking too, katsmeow1213... that somehow decaf isn't going to cut it the same way... disappointing because, for the amount of it I drink, it would be nice if there was actually some kind of benefit LOL

Coffee contains antioxidants, the caffeine is present in many drinks. Anyway if is true what they say about the benefits of coffee I'm the next highlander. I drink 2 big coffees in the morning, then until afternoon another 2 or 3. The last coffee is between 8 and 10pm, so I'm drinking five or six coffees daily.

I do like coffee. I was drinking one cup in the morning at work. Then I read about health benefits. Also, it gives me enough energy to make it through the day. Then I read that 2 cups of coffee help in weight loss too. I now do my best to have 2 cups every morning at work! I am still waiting for the miraculous weight loss to occur! LOL

Just another page to the "is coffee good or bad?" saga! Good grief, why don't they leave the poor little beverage alone! First is causes cancer, now it prevents it! Often it isn't the caffine that is the problem, it is the acidic oils in the beans that can cause problems. How do I know this? Cause I can't drink coffee. I love the aroma, but three swallows and I am doubled over in stomach pain. So I went to the doctor...found out I had an ulcer and the cause of the ulcer? The acidic oils in the coffee beans. I stopped drinking and went on Tagament for 30 days and the pain was gone and hasn't come back!
They should put their efforts elsewhere. FOr years they have been targeting coffee for one thing or another and as soon as they accuse it of one thing, it is later pacified as another.

I've heard there are some good things about coffee. But you know I don't like regular coffee I like the cappicino's from the gas station w/ gobs of sugar, flavoring creams and how healthy do you think it is at that point? Not very.

Oh good.. I should be cancer free forever then! How much coffee do I drink? Not sure. Do I ever drink anything other than coffee? Not really! I drink water while working out but after that it's a non-stop coffee drip until I go to bed (though in the evening I tend to stick with decaf).

I don't drink coffee in the morning, I stick to tea. I prefer coffee in the afternoons and I drink at least one a day. But the news is interesting and I'll definitely use it as a reason to drink more LOL. And as an argument of why I drink so much

Wow, I had no idea, but that is indeed lovely news for coffee lovers such as myself! I drink 3-4 cups on a regular day, but sometimes it's more and sometimes less.
