Airport Security Full Body Scans and Pat Downs

The other day while going through the airport, I forgot to take my cell phone out of my pocket while going through the full body scanner. Because of this I was subjected to a full pat down. I understand the need for airport security, and am generally in support of these measures, but I did feel a little bit invaded. I would have felt a little better if the pat down was done in a private room or out of the public eye, curtained off or something like that. Isn't there a better way to promote safety on our airplanes?

I have been traveling to more than fifty different countries in my lifetime. I think that over the years airport security has got much more more comprehensive. I will never forget my experience of security at the airport in Tel Aviv in Israel. There was advice to arrive at least three hours before the departure time. Each passenger waited in a line to have a personal interview. I was nervous because I was keen to get a window seat at the check in desk. I was taken away to a private room where they did a very detailed baggage search. I was let go eventually and they let my fly home. I almost missed my plane to London. These days I travel with my disabled toddler son and baby daughter. The security staff view baby bottles with suspicion. They are challenging about my son who isn't able to walk. I think a pat down should be done a room away from the public eye. I think that they have gone very through with their checks. I believe many people feel invaded. It is a shame that in todays world strong security measures are necessary.

Thanks for the response. Three hours is a long lead time.

I know that they do this to their passengers for security. Before we are scanned, we are asked to place our of the stuff with metal in a basket to be examined. But I see how embarrassed you might feel in that situation. Think of the security, you will appreciate it. Take care.

I do appreciate it, and understand and agree with the "why" it is done. Just wondering if we can come up with something less intrusive and embarrassing. Thanks for the response.
