My family loves pecans. It has been a tradition for four generations to pick up pecans in parks and public grounds, shell them and then use them in holiday candies and baked goods. I just finished cracking this year's crop. Next week we ill enjoy pecan pies with out Thanksgiving feast.
My mouth is watering already.

It seemed quite expensive to buy pecans not quite long ago here in NY. Ever since Costco Wholesale came into my neighborhood, buying pecans has become less expensive. We get half a gallon plastic containers of it and I usually put it in my breakfast cereals. When summer comes and Chipmunks run around my house, I go to my back yard and throw it near them. After a while they put the pecans in their mouths and come to take more. Its been such a good experience I've had feeding Chipmunks, and will continue to enjoy it.

The crop was limited this year for some reason, but we have more than enough for our needs. Some years I have been able to sell some on ebay to folks in areas like yours where pecans are hard to come by.
