I'm Getting Old

I noticed that as we age we sleep less. I'm not sure if this is a bad habit and if it happens naturally. When I was young I have to sleep for 10 hours to feel refreshed and not feel tired. But now that I'm at my early 30s I noticed that I've been sleeping less and i don't feel the need to sleep for longer hours anymore. My grandparents sleep only for 5 hours each day and this makes me wonder if this comes naturally as we grow older. What do you think?

I've heard we sleep less when we get older, I guess time will tell lol.

I find odd and weird but so true my friend as I am one that the older I have gotten I tend to sleep less and less. The older people in my country have a phrase and they say why sleep so much now as soon when I die I will be able to sleep for ever... LOL They are so telling the truth and well they want to enjoy all the time that they can get.

Hi toni As we get older, we sleep less, it is natural, a new born baby spends most of the time sleeping, now i am 65, i go to bed by 10pm and get up between 5-6am depending upon weather.. just like cellphone batteries when new you have to charge them for a full hours for it to be fully recharged and when it gets older you only need to charge it for a few minutes but it also drains faster hahaha oh no... my jokes are getting cornier as i age

Dear mate. Our sleep time is reduce when we get more old. When we are a baby we sleep a lot. After that, when sleep little when we are 20s, and this time is reduce and reduce when we get old and die. So, your grandparents sleep only 5 hours is normal. Back to look at you, well dear, you have a lot of thing to think about, so you can't sleep well at night. Maybe, you have a travel to somewhere to make you better. And, another recommend, You must online little and spend time with your baby more. Have a good day!

I think that you are right there as i tend to sleep alot less now than i use to.I think that as i do not have to get up and go to work any more than i tend to sleep less.I do not feel like i can go to sleep early either as i am always up until the real early hours of the morning.Mind you i have nothing to go to bed early for.

Not entirely sure but, I guess our body being conditioned to perform things that we might consider as our daily routine or how it tolerates and expends the energy it needs to go through the day determines the amount of rest we need in order to be fully charged for the next day. When we were young, I guess we had a lot of time to do anything that we want. Mostly playing around and being annoying to those who looked after us. Just energetic with the things that we get to learn and do. By the time we gain age, we become more aware of things around us and more selective with the activities that we do. We don't become as careless as we were young and spend only the necessary energy to accomplish the responsibilities that we are expected to do. Then again, there are still some adults who seem to sleep more even when they only do simple things that don't require much effort. Perhaps the exemptions?

I am now 40 but I still sleep longer than 8 hours a night..I also wake up late on weekends as there's nothing to hurry to go to work! I don't know I don't have problems with my sleep so far!

I'm getting older too. Though i'm not that old to begin with, but i realise i don't need that much of sleep compared to my younger teenage days. In the past, i can sleep for more than 12 hours, even though i had a relaxed day. WHile now, with a hectic schedule, i can make do with about 5 hours of sleep, and i'm able to last the whole day without feeling sleepy til bedtime.

That the fact..i just notice this kind of things lately..when i am young i can sleep all day long..now with my age keep increasing it become less. Right now, maximum i can sleep is 4 hour every night.

I advice to read about Hz. Mevlana. i think people Have to sleep about 6 or 7 hours. For success And refreshed feel good. I

yes that's natural.don't worry,when you grow up older your responsibilty increases and you can't sleep as you sleep in childhood.

I'm 22 but sleeping about 10h.. And thats too long because i can do some better stuff if i sleep just 6 hours! Actualy im looking for solution to sleep as well for 6 hours and feel like i was doing it 10 hours! Is it sport activity that i need more?

That's true, I also noticed that to my grandfather.. my grandfather told me, we must value our health, we must use our strength and health wisely so when we become old we will become happy and productive.. God Bls..

Thirty is not that old age!!! and you still can feel fresh by consuming fresh air, water and locally grown vegetables and grains. The more you love nature, the more fresh you feel forever, and age is not an hindrance to that natural feeling. But we have remember always that our can look after us without any problem up to the age of forty and after forty it is our turn to take care of our body in order to enjoy the nature to the fullest extent.

Its so weird isnt it? Yes as we get old the sleeping hours reduce, but its not always true. When we fall in love also we wont sleep for long. When we are depressed/excited/ blah blah we wont sleep much. We get old only if we feel we are old.

whoaaaaa.... it's opposite of me, when I was college I sleep always late, doing my home work, or just hang out with my cousin while watching a tv. we feel very sleepy when abouth 01.00-03.00 Am. hoam.........

Hey toniganzon stop worrying man! Its a natural part of the aging process.We are expected to sleep less as we age. Because as we get older our brain activities becomes less synchronized. That is the reason, as it diminishes the quality and the efficiency of the sleep periods. I would not prefer you to take sleeping pills, prefer a physician's strict guidance. You are in your 30s Hah! Stop Worrying ...Enjoy life.

i don't think this is natural ,as we grow old we should increase our sleeping time as the body tends to function slower and greater time is needed to revitalize the system and refresh the brain,by the way 30 is not at all old i believe OLD starts at 45 you have a lot of time so don't worry
