i always fire fox to browse the internet. But firefox sometimes consumes lot of cpu usage. The cpu usage sometimes go upto 100%, and the system hangs. When i quit firefox the cpu usage comes to normal. Where the probelm lies? Is it a bug in firefox or it is a result of viruses. Which browser is best for internet surfing?

I had a problem like that, too, and I discovered that it was a particular add on, one of the "personas" that I was using. I changed that and have had no more problems. Chrome is smaller and lighter, but it can't do everything that Firefox can do. I use a few different tool bars and they won't work with Chrome. I think we have a choice: A browser that's fast and light and can't handle all the scripts we throw at it or a browser that can do everything and is a little slower and sluggish at times. Firefox used to be a lot faster than it is now.

Firefox does have the problem of memory management, and it does use a lot of system resources compared to a few other browsers. When a user has plug-ins, and/or open many tabs, then the problem starts. That is why it is not my default browser. If I am not mistaken the Firefox team is trying to address this issue. I am saying this because I also use Firefox 3.6, and testing Firefox 4 Beta 7. There seem to be some improvement. Which browser is the best for Internet surfing depends on factors like stability, preferences, and frequently visited websites. At the moment I choose Opera 10.63. You can try browsers like K-Meleon, Comodo Dragon, The World, Green Browsser, and Avant.
