Some people say religion is necessary for life but some are saying not. So for you what's your stand on this question?

Personally I think that it's important not so much to have a religion but to have something to believe in. Be it God money humanism science or the graciousness of Gaia - a person needs something to believe in order to have a reason and a purpose to living. Plus a sense of morality and ethics (not necessarily supplied by religion but by belief in what is right/wrong, good/bad) will be a good compass too.

I, myself, think that to have a religion is so important. Because God really exists. That's a fact. But I understand your point. As long as you live morally and do the right things, it's okay. Religion is even useless if you are doing the wrong things in life. It is not just memorizing the commandments of your religion it's more on applying the things that you've learned to be a better person.

That really depends on what is really true. If there is a God, and Jesus Christ really atoned for our sins, then there is absolutely nothing more important than to accept that. On the other hand, if the atheists are right, then religion is pretty much a waste.
But then again, both of those examples are about the benefits (or lack of) after we die.
For me, there have been times in my life I kept God at a distance, and times I have acted as if He didn't exist at all. I can say with confidence that I have been happier when I sought God's guidance in my decisions.
So even if there is no god, and religious beliefs are empty, if they help people make positive decisions in their life, then it was important for them.
