In Washington, the Metro is asking riders to lobby Congress for more funds as their stimulus dollars are running out. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/local/Metro-asks-riders-to-help-it-lobby-Congress-1612678-109080639.html The reason for the name on this discussion is that when doctors bring their patients into politics, it is threatening. In my opinion, this is the best way to plead your case and I felt the same about healthcare. What is your opinion?

Hiya laglen, Having read the information on the link I think I have understood it. Or maybe I have´nt. What do they want two systems for seems very silly to me. Okay they are given allowances on their daily journeys on the Metro and they have to keep part of that to be able to park?. If they are going to give traveler´s allowances to travel on the Metro why don´t they do it in a straightforward fashion? Are they really threatening the People who use the Metro with those other cuts. This is the problem although I have read it and understood must be something I am missing there what is it? Whatever I am missing then it must be really complicated for most People to comprehend anyway. (grin) Oh well I gave it my best shot.

Hiya laglen, Well okay I see what you mean now. We are having cuts in the Health thing too and it´s all being done so quietly no one is really going to find out till it all starts happening. My Nephew was a Father last year to a Baby Girl and she had to take things with her that the Hospital do not supply anymore. That is only the start and some of the Tests that they usually do are being cut by half or more. It´s general but not as bad as where you are it seems but it will come here. The Health Insurance Adverts are numerous there are four times more than last Year and on in the increase. Take care now.

Congrats to your nephew and bringing supplies to the hospital, to me, seems third worldly.

Hiya laglen, This is also to hoffer down there as I did´nt want to take her Response Box away. Some of our Police are doing their Patrols on the Buses now through lack of money they cannot repair the Cars they work in. Strange thing is that even when the Money does start coming back they are going to have to patrol on the Buses as part of their work. I admire the attitude that they themselves have taken. With a lot of dignity they have taken it too. This is how the financial crash has hit this Country. The Honeypot suddenly ran dry on them that´s all.

Hiya laglen, Seems that way does´nt it? We will all have to look after our own Honeypot in the future I think. That way we can survive all this better.

Our transit system is always behind on making money and needing bailed out by the Feds and the state. I look at it this way, the tax money we put in the transit system saves on the roadways and road repair. Our state can't fix roads at all so we may all be riding the train very soon.

I know where we can save $300+M. I'm absolutely opposed to subsidizing (mostly, but not all) federal workers rides to and parking at work. Federal workers in the DC area are paid substantially more than other federal workers in grade and cost of living. Let them pay for their own ride to work and parking. I had to...
