Hey, as some of you may know, yesterday was Children in Need day. For those of you who are not too familiar with Children in Need, Children in Need is an annual British charity appeal organised by the BBC. Since 1980, it has raised over £500 million, ($800,000,000). The highlight of the Children in Need appeal is the annual telethon, (held yesterday). A teddy bear names Pudsey Bear fronts the campaign, while Terry Wogan is a long standing host. Children in Need is one of the three high-profile British telethons, the others being the Red Nose Day telethon and the Sport Relief telethon, both supporting the Comic Relief carity. (Defination by Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_in_Need )
The money raised is distributed to various charities that support children under the age of 18 in the UK. These charites help children who go through different disabilities, psychological and behavourial disorders, suffer from poverty, neglect or abuse.
Last year, we rasied a total of £39 million and I was just wondering if any of us mylotters did anything to contribute to the appeal. This year, I gave a small amount to Children in Need but not as much as I usually do 'cos I don't really have that much money. =(

Aww that's really sweet =D. We did a similiar thing a few months ago; we have this school that our school supports called the Imprezza school (in Kenya), and they have had quite a lot of problems with a kind of insect that burrows into the children's feet. So we sent off all the flip flops that we could get hold of to prevent the insects reaching them.
It really is horrible that so many children are in poverty, it kind of makes me feel guilty that I was lucky enough to be born where I was.

I have not done anything yesterday, because honestly, I am not aware of the day as Children in need day.But to my extent what I could o I always do.I am sponsoring % children of Class 8 for their studies for the complete year. Hopefully I shall continue my sponsorship for the current children for next year too. I have plans of adopting 3 more children from next year onwards.
That will bring the count to 8 children are studying with my sponsorship. The feeling and the happiness I just cant explain in words. I want to do sponsor at least 100 children education by 2015.
Pray to God to to give me strength.
Thank you for starting up such a nice thread.

Wow, that's really kind calpro. I'm really glad that there are people who are doing what you are doing and helping children who do not have the same opportunites.
100 children in education just because of your generosity would be amazing, good luck!!
