Finally! I Found the Recycling Center!

I had looked it up on line but couldn't find it. Then the other day I saw the truck back behind a store and just went over that way. They recycle almost everything! I am so excited!! I use like 7 to 10 cans a day feeding my son his tube feedings and then I have tons of boxes when his supplies are delivered! I am so excited to finally be able to put it all somewhere so that they can be recycled! Do you have a recycling center near you? Do you use it?

Congrats on your recycling efforts. Yes we have many in our area, but sort of specialty wise. So we have to go to several, you know to sort, as some specifically only take aluminum, while others will take the cardboards. We do take the items once a month, although many people in my area just dumped them in the garbage bins. Ugh.. leaving no room for the actual garbage. Lazy because there are so many in our areas.

I was pretty shocked when I found it yesterday. They have bins for literally everything! Three different colors of glass, steel cans as well as aluminum, papers, cardboard and plastic! It's great!

I only recycle old book, newspaper and unused paper. I prefer to send to recycle center after those things get annoying me.

I recently took some books back to the book store, they will buy them back. And lots of things I send to a charity store like Goodwill or another thrift store. I figure that counts as recycling too!

There are some places that buy and sell used books. You don't get a lot back for them, but it's a little bit!

I never thought about that. Thank for giving me some idea. If i know it earlier I should sell the old book to book store.

It's part of our regular garbage pick up so I don't have to go anywhere. I like that we have it set up that way. Though I wish we had recycling carts we I have a small home and no garage so it's a pain to find somewhere to store it when the winter winds come barreling thru as then it blows everything all over the place.

Though I spoke to my Aunt about the bins and she has the opposite problem her garbage goes in bags @ the road & the recyclables in a cart. I however, had a cart for my garbage but a bin for my recyclables.

Yeah, there have been times that I am on my morning run and I have to stop and pick up aluminum cans for someone as the small bins blow around a lot!

we are very lucky. they pick ours up in a blue can, curbside just like the garbage, except its on a different day and the garbage can is black. we do kind of pay for it, as its in with our water bill. but we get extra points if we join the recycle bank online like i did. and get free stuff. like i just got my pogo club paid for the year, saved 40 bucks and we've gotten Esquire, cosmopolitan, good housekeeping, and country living magazine for a year free!! they have tons of stuff you can get free. sorry you have to run yours over there but do you not get something back? some places pay. or they used to

I am sure there is somewhere that would pay for aluminum cans, but I don't have that many of those. I understand that glass plants and paper plants pay per pound as well. But I don't know where those are or if it would be worth the time. At least this way I can do my part to help the environment. For now I am just happy with that!

Where I live, on trash days, they pick up recycles in one can, trash in another, and green waste in the third. But we still collect cans in another bucket so we can get redemption.

The trash here looks like they have big black bins out by the street on trash collection days. Then there are little green tubs by the curb as well. I'm guessing they pick those up on different days.

Hi macdingolinger Come to think of it, I really don't know were our recycling center is, or if we have one, now! Now that the subject has come up *** I am going to have to find out. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I can understand why a recycling center is very helpful and useful for you and your family. I know when I was taking care of my mom, I always had boxes and things which can add up in a hurry and by the time I got rid of them, I had another load. Take care and have a wonderful evening! Snow

Hey Snow! Yeah, I was pretty excited. I kept hearing we had one but just found it yesterday. I already have half of a small box filled with cans!!

Yes, they're everywhere here. Recycling pays big money over here. Cans, bottles (glass & plastic), cardboard boxed drinks all pay ten cents each in South Australia. Scrap metal prices have gone up considerably too. Top copper grades pay at over six dollars a kilogram. Aluminium, plastic coated wire, brass all pay well too. I used to make a $200 profit per month doing this.

I used to have a recycle center around here, but it got closed down several months ago... and I have to admit that I didn't recycle anything since. My conscience is bothering me, but I really don't want to walk half an hour with garbage bags to take things to a recycling center. Last week I registered for a service which is supposed to come to your house and pick up stuff that can be recycled free of charge... I haven't heard from them back, but I hope they're for real and will show up eventually.

I think they have a similar service here as well. When I am running through the neighborhoods there are boxes specifically marked for recycling. I live in an apartment and so it's not available here, but the recycling center is only a few blocks from my apt!
