Atleast one version of the Dream ACt would allow qualified illegal immigrants up to the age of 35 to gain resident status, prevent the Department of Homeland Security from removing any illegal who has a pending application, regardless of age or criminal record – and offers amnesty to qualified illegals with misdemeanor convictions, even DUIs.
If thats not enough, after gaining citizenship, they then can petition for their families to get legal status, even if they are here illegally.

This bill did fail in the Senate but Harry Reid has vowed to bring it back.

I think it just needs to be thoroughly revised by both parties before they pass it, or even think about passing it. They are already here, so why not intergrate them into soceity. If you think about it, deporting every single illegal would be a ton of work and it would cost a lot of money, money that's still going to be taken out of our paychecks. It would also have a profound impact on the economy, since they have been here for a long time and have contributed to the economy one way or the other. either way something has to be passed, this whole immigration issue needs to be addressed one way or the other.

I understand what you mean, but hoping over a border and commiting murder are two different things. I am not condoning coming here illegally, but at the present the government is looking for ways to generate money into the economy. If they could deport every single illegal without any lasting effects, they would have done so already. There are just way too many of them, then there is the process of having to prove that there are indeed here illegally, especially those with fake social security numbers. Its a painstaking process, sad, but true.

This is the equivalent of telling kidnappers that if they treat the kid well for long enough, they get to be the "real" parents and keep the kid.

I was a civilian employee for US Air Force for 4 years, the US Army for 8 years and married to a US Citizen before I came to the States....but I still had to get a green card, prove I could speak English be completely healthy then get a job, sign an affidavit that I would not be a burden on the US government, would be able to support my self, and then I studied hard (and paid) to become an American Citizen! What the hell did I do wrong????? I should have just sat around and waited for the Citizenship to be thrown at me while being supported by US tax dollars.
This whole amnesty crap absolutely infuriates me! It is just a ploy to get gratitude votes for Obama and his crew of minions.

Why didn't the people of Nevada do their job and get rid of Reid! (I know I'll get flack for that comment...) Obviously, Reid's scare did nothing to put him on the right track. As long as Reid's still in a leadership position, we'll keep getting bills presented for "stuff" we don't want. I am opposed to front door amnesty, back door amnesty, side door amnesty, through the chimney amnesty and out of the basement amnesty. Obviously, Reid doesn't understand positions like mine.

I too am opposed to any type of amnesty regardless of what fancy name they try to cover it up with.
