Do you read the bible or do you read everything that doesn't pertain to God? We all know that newspapers, magazines and news channels display nothing but violence and nothing positive. Can you really used this information to better your future? There is nothing useful in anything that is not godly. You can't take any of that information and use it in a positive manner to prosper enormously in your life. If you read the Bible like we read everything else in this world, then we would know each scripture has a positive impact on our lives. Each scripture will help us build our future enormously and have a life of joy and peace. The only way we will make it in today's society is to read his word and apply it to our lives. If you just stay in his word then your life will be build on his word even if you only read a scripture a day it will turn your life around. We all must have faith that he will take care of all our situations no matter what the situation might be. If you never read the Bible starting reading Revelations the last book of the new testament and see how the devil tested god it will blow your mind.

I read a bit every day and the entire Bible every year. I start Jan. 1 with Genesis and by Dec. 31 I finish Revelation. As far as I'm concerned there is no excuse for everyone not to do the same. If one is too busy then they are wasting their life. It takes lees than one hour a day and God gives us 24 hours and if we don't have time to read his word then what are we doing that we don't have time? Let's be honest now!

My teacher forced me to read some verse in fourth grade, but honestly I think the Bible and other "holy" scripts are just made up stories. Don't take me wrong, I DO believe in a soul, but I'm not about to put my faith in a book that says it's alright to kill someone who committed adultery (old testament).
Besides, does reading the Bible make you a good person? No, certainly not. If a murderer read the Bible, would he be forgiven and considered "good"? Of course not.
What makes us "good" or "bad" people (there are no true good or bad people since we're mixes of both good and bad thoughts and actions) are just four things:
What we say
What we do not say
What we do
What we do not do
The path to "enlightenment" or whatever you want to call it is simply to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone - including yourself. If everyone just followed that simple rule there would be no murders, wars or rapes.

Hello!
I have read some parts of the bible. I should read the whole book one of these days. I always go back to the part about the 7 seals and the revelations which interests me a lot. The year 2012 is coming so fast and we will all see what will happen to all of us. I am not saying I believe that the world and all life will end because I don't really believe that it will occur. I guess only time will tell :). Thanks for this topic, I think I will start reading the whole bible one of these days.

I use to read the Bible. But I don't anymore. We should learn from what we read but we should not believe everything we read. We should be selective with what we believe in.

Yes I read the bible, everyday. I also read other material. Reading the bible doesn't necessarily make me a Christian, anymore than standing in my garage makes me a car...I also understand that all secular material is not detrimental to me mentally either. The Word is my excellent source for daily living, you know...
B.I.B.L.E. = Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth
However, I also know that many do not read the Word because they don't understand it; and many lack understanding because they lack a relationship with God. I would be lost if I opened your family's photo album; I wouldn't recognize anyone! Same w/His Word...if I'm not apart of the family, I won't recognize anyone or anything; after all, the bible says, the preaching of the gospel to them that perish, is foolishness.

Yes, I read the Bible and as I have the goal to read it all until the end of this year and as I started from Genesis in July, I had to find out how to do it easier.
I have listened to many books from recordings. I have downloaded big parts of it from the net - jw.org - and that saves my eyes and the readers are so good at expressing the feelings in the text. It makes it all more alive!
Happy reading!!

It is important that we just don't read but do what it says in the Word of God. Reading without the leading of the Holy Spirit is nothing. Reading the scriptures without any intention of seeking God and humbling down before God is useless too.
Even if you have read the Bible from cover to cover you will not understand it as long as you don't have a repentant heart that is broken before God and if you don't live according to His will, it will all be useless. I have heard a lot of people say they have read it, maybe, but they never understood.
It is just so easy to say I have read the Bible, but if we do not apply it in our lives, it will all be in vain. I do believe that God speaks through His Word but we must understand that we need to have faith and believe in God because we have been given a free will to choose and God in His mercy can never interfere our decisions in life. God will never ever force Himself to someone who does not believe. In order to see the light through Christ, we should believe in Him first that He is the Only way to the Father.
Reading the Word of God does equip us spiritually. It is not a just a help book to keep you happy and live life abundantly because that is not the main focus there. It talks more about your spiritual life, peace and joy of the heart, the contentment that you can only find through Christ Jesus and not what this world can offer.

I do read the Bible. Actually it has been my habit for almost 30 years now to get up in the morning and spend time reading the Bible before I even get my day started. I think this is part of what has carried me through tough times!
