Bullying is a social problem everywhere in the world. It is the use of strength, power or status to hurt other people most especially the weaker ones. It may involve both physical and emotional attacks such as hitting, teasing, etc. Recently, bullying has caught our attention more because of the reports of increasing number of children committing suicide due to this kind of experiences. There are so many negative effects of bullying on children. It makes them want to stop going to school, it makes them become unfocused with their studies, it makes them withdraw themselves more to other people even at home, it lowers their self-esteem, and so on. Basically, bullying is something quite destructive to the victims especially when they can't handle it well, to the point of ending their own lives. So fellow mylotters, what do you think is or are the causes of bullying in school? Have you experienced being bullied or have you tried bullying others? What do you think are the possible solutions for bullying? =)

Well just like what you've said bullying is a social problem everywhere. I think a school won't be complete without having a bully student. I'm not supporting this acts but it is reality.
As for my experience, i guess i've been bullied many times. During grade school, high school and even college. Maybe it's because of i'm small, i'm just 5'6 in height. But everyone who bullied me had the fight of their life as well. That's my motto, "never back down". They might knock me down but i don't give up, i fight until they quit. I don't quit, no matter what. But of course the courage i have doesn't come in all kid out there.
I'm sad on how this acts continue and i think these days numbers of incident (bullying in school) has been increasing. I just can't accept the fact that teachers or even administrators hardly can't take care of this. We all know they can see and they are well aware of it but still they can't prevent it from happening.
Well solutions starts from the parents. Everything starts from them, from home.

Hi monsterfishlover. I agree. It's quite disappointing how teachers or school administrators can't handle such problem. It has been going on for so long and they should have had planned programs or other ways how to lessen it if not totally eradicate bullying in schools. I also think a child's character or how he or she relates to others starts at home. =)

I think the cause of bullying is related to some psychological problem of the child. Maybe they don't get enough attention or importance at home and to fill in the void, they resort to such measures. This is a clear indication of low self esteem. In many ways, cinema and media hype also is a cause for bullying, because there is where children get the ideas from. There should be counsellors available in school who can talk to the miscreants as well as the victims.
