So a couple of days ago, some buddies and I were playing no limit texas-hold-em. It was a small, 15 dollar buy in game so it was all for good fun.
About halfway through the game, I was dealt Ace King offsuit, while my friend was dealt pocket twos.
The Flop comes up 2 A 7.
When the river turned, it was a garbage card of a 10.
We both raised just a tiny bit more and went onto the river.
The river came up a Ace. So the cards on the board were 2 A 7 10 A.
I made trips, but little did i know, my friend had actually made full house. I raised him 3 dollars, and he reraised me 6. I thought I had him beat and called him.
I went having lost 15 bucks that night. What a bad bad beat.
Does anyone have any other bad beats they want to share ?

One of my first times playing I got dealt 2 8 of hearts while big blind. Nobody raised so I checked and the flop came up 3 k j-all hearts. Fantastic! I got a King high flush. One guys raises, I call. The turn is j spade. I raise, he calls. I dont remember the river card-it did factor in-I raise, he raises and i call, thinking "What is this idiot doing? Doesn't he see the flush?" Of course I was the idiot for not seeing the full house. I lost a chunck of coin on that one but learned to pay a little better attention.

That wasn't a bad beat my friend. And you should not have lost 9 out of 15 dollars on that hand.
A bad beat is when the player who wins the hand plays it in such a way that it is "bad". In your hand above, did the player who floped a set play bad? He had a pocket pair and floped three dueces - he's not folding at that piont. Did he make any mistakes in the play of the hand?
Now if that player with the pair of dueces had made the set (fullhouse) on the river, well, thats a diferent story. That would have been a true bad beat. In that case he should have folded to ANY bet on the flop or on the turn. Not doing so would be playing BAD and winning. Playing BAD and winning is a bad beat.

There's a sports bar/restaurant I go to every monday & wednesday for tournament & cash game. I've been going there for about a year. There was one time when I was dealt 3 5 suited, spades. The other guy was dealt bullets, A A off suit. Flop comes out A(spade), 4(spade), 5(heart). Turn comes up 5(diamond), then river comes up 2(spade). He made Ace high full boat & I made straight flush. Then of course there was a time when I was dealt Q K, flop comes out K A K, then turn comes out A, then river comes out K. He had pocket Aces. I had King quads & he had Ace quads. There was also a time when I had A K off suit. I was holding A heart. Flop came out 10, J, Q all hearts. Then K of heart came out. River was meaningless, 5 of spades. He flips over 9 of heart, straight flush. I made royal flush with ace high. There were countless times when I've gotten a bad beat & also dished out a lot of bad beats. That's poker.
