Law-makers are giving stiffer penalties on drunk-driving in our city. Drivers who refuse to submit to breathalizer now face immediate ninety day driving suspension and a $500 fine. Not only that, car will be impounded for 30 days and possibly be charged with criminal offense. First offenders with blood alcohol content between .05 to .08% gets three days ban and $200 fine. Second offenders in a period of 5 years gets 7-day ban and $300 fine, while third offender gets 30 day ban and $400 fine.
By the way, I was watching the news last night with a newscaster testing those breathalizers. She failed the test after gurgling a mouthwash. LOL! Just proves that those instruments aren't accurate at all.
What is your say on this and how stiff are the penalties in your country when it comes to alcohol and driving?

Our's is very strict and very obscure how the law makers here they are money grabbers such as fine when you are caught $5000 fine and impounded to the same maybe yours. I don't drink anymore so I have no problem with that, but the Lawmakers really are insane here where I lived even when you are caught killing birds or animals you gonna spend in jail but if you kill a human being your chances are you can still be free in jail. Looks like you are Canadians Australian eh!

I feel there ought to be strict measures to control drunk driving. But this doesn't mean innocent victims like those who had a mouth wash ought to be apprehended on false charges. The instruments have to be made more accurate so those committing acts of drunk driving aren't let off.We have a breathalizersr for those driving after consuming drinks in our place.
