"Religious People" is Too Much Paranoid When it Comes to Evil.

I have a dream, but I did not achieve it. The reason is every dream that I choose is consider for them as "evil". They prevent me from doing "evil". One of the dream that I want to achieve is to compose a "song" and create a "band" which consists of five members. I did not achieve that kind of goal in my life because they prevent me from doing it. Now, I do not understand of what is "evil" to have a band. They say, the band is "evil" because people create music that is "rock" and "hard metal rock". They say, I attract "evil" if I am going to have a "band". Even to have my own "music studio", I did not achieve it because they say, I am tempting people to take drugs every time they would visit my "music studio". Is that the way "religious people" think? I mean, "religious people" that are too much devoted to God? It seems that for "religious people", everything from the "outside world" is "evil". Have you ever encountered this situation in your life? I grew up from a "very religious" family.

Hello Introvertshy, There are some Christians who are actually using Band Musical Instruments just to Preach the word of God through singing because like the Roman Catholic church, they use only choir and piano for the singing part. i believe it depends on how open minded the person is. i believe that some verses have become obselete in our times. Principles based on religion should help us adopt to modern times and not hide or reject it.

I was baptized as a Catholic and grew up in the teachings of Catholic. They taught me that it has to be "solemn". The "music should be harmonious and peaceful" because they taught me that "loud music" comes from evil like for example, the "drum", "the musical band" and so on. They also taught me that "modern" is evil and being a "traditional" is good... Oh my gosh. I think, Catholic has so many rules to follow and they are very strict--- I mean, the "laws", the "rules"--- especially if a person is very "devoted Catholic"--- very religious. Sometimes, I can't take it anymore... wa ha ha ha ha.

IntrovertShy, this is from Psalm 150: 1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Now, does this sound solemn? Have you ever heard the blowing of a shofar before a service and how very loud it is? Peaceful isn't bad, but being loud and using drums are not bad either..Here is one band I like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TdgtAdppF4

Hi Introvert shy: Excuse me, but you can't get to these conclutions. I'm a Catholic too and my family is very catholic and I can tell you that we follow the rules of our religioon but at the same time we could understand a situation like yours. I think that we shouldn't be so rigid on these cases. What should matters is that we express our love for God. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day. ALVARO

Wow, you gotten an earful on this subject and I agree with most of what has been said here. Lets make it simple, there's a phrase is the Bible that basically says the following (my words); "examine everything, keep the good and reject the bad". Also in the New Testament we are told firstly to love God above all else and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. So if you live by these two rules then everything you do will be done with love. No one is perfect and there will be times that you stumble, but don't loose hope and ask God for His guidance.

yo! man! I think the problem is in you. You didn't pursue or fight for your own will of your own satisfaction and happiness. And, thus you did not attain your dream to have your band because you love rock and hard metal rock. So, what with Religious People paranoid when it comes to evil.... Yo! Man! That's your choice, your happiness and not for the,. And so, what!?!?! You have to fight your own rights, your own happiness in life. That is all about being a Christianity. We have to be happy to achieve our dreams, our visions to achieve in life. Achieving these happiness has a cost of self-sacrifices. You have to endure these sacrifices in able to be successful and happy in life. Without cruelty and endangering others of what surrounds you, including the environment. Don't blame others because they are Religious People and paranoid on evilness. Blame yourself because you chose them on the first place and not your dreams. You have chose them and sacrificed your dreams to have your own hard metal rock band. The question is why do you chose them (Religious People), Instead of your Dreams (hard metal rock band)? Don't mind them at all. Stay focus on your dreams. And have a Spiritual Christianity in faith, in your heart and mind forever. As long as you live.

Yes IntrovertShy, I have and why I steer clear of religious people as much as possible. I have this heavy metal band on youtube, (I mean music where the singer is screaming and jumping), that is a Christian and someone made a comment about being "heavy metal and Christian" and how they don't mix. I didn't say anything, but this band is awesome and I suggest you go ahead with your band, I'd love to hear you. Do you play an instrument? sing? Tell me more about it and what about the other band members, do they feel the same way?

All you can do is live your life as a good person. Whatever that definition is for you. Music itself isn't evil. Zealots are always dangerous. I would try ignoring it.

In the Bible, God gave a Law. Afterwards, humans thought this original Law to be imperfect, and decided to add their own laws to make it suit their needs. This is too religious. This is the kind of thing Jesus was preaching against. He told his followers not to be like the Pharisees, who were too religious and ostracized others for their imperfections, even if the Pharisees were sinners themselves. Jesus himself did not always hang out in the synagogues. He spent a lot of time with the harlots, tax collectors, drinkers, in the setting of what would be today's parties. He did not point at people and say "this is bad, this is bad." Rather, he gave people the Spirit of the Law, and why things were to be done in a certain way. He said that people were being too religious and forgot the very essence of the law. People think of Christianity as too strict a religion. On the contrary, it is not supposed to be strict, nor a religion. Rather, it is supposed to be a free way of life. It's not about a bunch of laws that people have to follow. Rather, it's about a God who loves us and wants us to be free. Imagine that you were a prisoner of war and some warrior from your side of the battle burst into the jail doors and with a mighty sword broke the manacles off of your wrists, saying that the war was over. How would you thank him? If you were truly thankful, you wouldn't be timid and, shamefully, look to the ground and say, "Thank you..." You would be so filled with excitement, crying tears of joy, and shout at the top of your lungs, "AWEEEESOMMMEEE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH!!!" Well, that's what I'd do. But I'm sure that in your own words, you'd be likely do the same thing. There are several verses in the Bible that speak of how humans are to praise God. Although, I'd like you to take careful note of Psalm 150. It says that we are to praise the Lord with all instruments. Not just a piano and some monotonous choir. But we are to praise him with the trumpet, the harp, the lyre, the timbrel, dancing, strings, pipes, and clashing cymbals! In modern society, that would be the saxophone, the guitar, the base, the drumset, breakdancing, violins, flutes, and a marching band!!! We are to praise him at the top of our lungs, especially today that the power of sin is broken and we are free to be with God in Spirit and in Truth. Other verses you might want to note: Psalm 100:2 (It says to praise Him with gladness and singing, not melancholia and chanting.) Psalm 117:1-2 (It uses exclamation points. If you were in drama class, and you were told to read a sentence ending with an exclamation point, you would most definitely shout it!) Ephesians 5:19 (Make a song for God with your heart. If singing "holy" songs does not express the gratitude you have for God as a Christian, then He is not pleased.) John 4:21-23 (Jesus told the Samaritans that when you worship God in Spirit and in Truth, it doesn't matter if you sing on the mountain or in the temple. It doesn't matter if you shout or if you chant. All those rules don't matter. All that matters is that you know the Truth of God.) Ecclesiastes 3:4 (There's a time for everything. Boring songs might have their time, but so do songs with the guitar and the drums.) Psalm 30:11 (If you have God's love, there is no need to be sad while singing to him.) Hebrews 10:19-20 (It says praise Him with confidence. CONFIDENCE!!! Shout it out loud!) Psalm 42:1-11 (It says to proceed into his presence with SHOUTS of praise!!! With a festival! A fĂesta!!! Why do we need so monotonous and boring? WE NEED TO SHOUT OUT FOR JOY BECAUSE GOD'S LOVE IS WITH US!!!) The Bible says that there are two kinds of people. The religious, and the faithful. The religious do it for the sake of doing it. The faithful do it because they believe. The religious are devoted to their practice. The faithful are devoted to their faith. In the context of the Bible, their faith in God.

All religions are based on the 'carrot and the stick' principal of guidance. The 'carrot' to entice the being down the road of goodness and the 'stick' to beat them into submission if they tend to go down the path of evil. So half of religions are based on fear which is a very good thing to maintain control. If you have fear of the retribution you would get from your family and religious community if you started a rock band then you must not do it. Your life will be made a living Hell if you do. You cannot pick and choose the bits of a religion as it suits you. It is all or nothing.
