My friend wants to purchase a new DVD Writer. As from my thoughts he is bit confused on which to go for. Samsung DVD Writer : Pros- Good lens reading, Go writing speed, Compatible with all OS, Moderate cost. Cons- Tray problem, power calibration error, bad service. Sony DVD Writer : Pros- branded widely available around the world, good service Cons- cost more, less lens durability, writing failure (if used other than sony Discs) LG DVD Writer (My Fav) : Pros- Low cost, high durability lens, compatible with all OS, good service, can read even heavily scratched disc w/o lens failure. Cons- bad availability of spare for outdated models, Mother board compatibility (Since new uses SATA). Experts, Pls advise me so that i can advise me friend for which one is the best to go!?

LG is good but Samsung is the best. Its a bit priced high but yes its awesome and nowadays the service is going well. And all the DVD Writers are coming with 3 years of warranty.LG comes with 1 year warranty and it is prone to going bad very soon.so buy Samsung.

I think if you want the better quality which last for long and when you insert CD in to the tray for read and write do not get heated as in many writers...then you should go for LITE-ON brand... I am using one from last 5-6 years without any problem.. so suggest him LITE-ON brand writer .... help him to make decision.....best of luck!

I'll go after Samsung. But I don't really agree with their so-called bad service. As far as I know, they don't usually repairs the DVD-writer,but just replaced with a new one if it is still under warranty.Even,if the warranty has expired, they do service their products well and for DVD writers, they do it on the spot.I live in Malaysia and I have no problems with their service.I guess maybe their service differs from countries to countries. But that depends on their technicians too.Good and puctual technicians,as well as skilled ones,do affect the service. Cheeers.

It all depends on what you like I guess. I have an LG one, and I love it! I have never had any problems with it at all. So I think it is well worth the price!

Personally, I have used both Samsung and LG DVD writers. Samsung is far more better than LG. I have never used Sony, however, it will certainly be costlier as compared to Samsung. If feel that the performance of Sony is much better than Samsung, then go for Sony. Otherwise, Samsung is the best choice among these three companies.
