It is a great movie and follows the book like it should, but as a result it becomes very violent and scary at points..what do you think ..Harry Potter movies suitable for kids or not? I THINK It's "PG 13" for a reason,so no one under that age should see it..It's not scary at all for ADULTS,but it might be scary to a child..There are bloody scenes in it, as well as a scene where two characters are really, passionately kissing in "deathly hollows".Definitely not for kids. what is your opinion? please reply

Parents have to truly use their best judgments when it comes to movies like this, as an 11 year old may be a bit more mature than the next 12 year old. If my kids were that little I do not believe I would be taking them to see it. There is enough violence out in the world today and I do not have to be the one to continue the ritual.

Though I would love to read the book/books, I have just watched the movies and it does look scary to my daughter. She is just three and most of the time she watches it with her eyes covered with her hands. Or she turns away. The first few films were ok. They started off on a light note and all of us enjoyed watching them. But later on, it became darker and darker(literally! no lights used in the movie at all!) and much more scarier and serious. Definitely not suited for viewing by children.

I do understand where you're coming from. However, in order to give Harry Potter its dues we must remember he is not a kid anymore. This is seven years later. Of course things are getting more dangerous and complicated. If the children arent ready, they arent ready. I think that when Harry Potter started out it was thought to be for children. As we soon found out, even adults love Harry Potter. I can tell you that from personal experience. I think the author has captured the entire world in her creation. In some way everyone can relate. Children's fantasy, adults suffer much of the same problems in different forms. What can I say? Harry is the man!!!I only wish it didnt have to end. Unfortunately for reasons stated above It has to. Its not fathomable that harry would be a 40 year old fighting voldemort. I think if they tried to make him a superman of the wizarding world it just wouldnt keep the same momentum. Happy MyLoting dl

Hi Crazy, I do think such movies are scary as far as kids are concerned. I also think Jurassic Park was bad for kids, leave alone adults. And Crazy somewhere I read that people who imagine the worst are likely to meet that worst sometime. So ....imagine Steven Spielberg saying hello to dinosaurus.

I don't think that Harry Potter is suitable for kids.I agree with all your reasons, but in addition,Harry Potter movies got some those magical elements unacceptable to young minds. However, the books are fine. The movies,no.

I think that in the last part there might be some scenes which are not suitable for the kids. There are bound to be some scenes in part 2 also which might scare the kids or maybe just too harsh for them. It's better if one watches with parents or better yet not at all! Cheers!

i agree with the PG rate. Harry potter is growing, and he became teenager now. i think the viewer also have to be the same age as him. it gives them to understand the movie with better thinking too

I think that with each new movie they have gotten a bit darker. As the characters grow up, they are faced with more adult scenarios ans scenes. I think that as with most movies that it depends on the child watching...maturity levels and such.

The books seemed to evolve as the characters grew older. It started out as a fairly innocent series, but got progressively darker as each book came out. It kind of grew up with its original audience that way. I would expect nothing different from the movies, because they've been very loyal thus far. I would not call the seventh book a kid's book... so yeah. I guess the film would be too scary for young children. I haven't seen the movie yet, and I'm not really interested in seeing it either. I've read all the books but only because I'm an avid reader and I wanted to know what the big deal was. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan.

In my opinion, it really depends on the ages of the children. I don't think that any of the Harry Potter movies would be appropriate for my four year old. However, I wouldn't mind to let my eight year old see them. Then there is the fact that my eight year old is old for her age. I also wouldn't take a child that is immature to see them. I think that the reason for the rated PG-13 is so that parents are able to realize that they need to use caution when deciding whether or not to let their children see the movies.

Hi Crazy Poster: I don't think so. I have grown up reading the Harry Potter series and for me they are amazing. I can feel the excitement of the scenes, etc, but at the same time I understand that for some little kids, some representations of the film are not ok. In general I think that is a very appropriated film for a kid. ALVARO

I think it's one of the great movies ever made. Not just for kids. I really enjoy watching them. I don't think I would have enjoyed much from reading the books. I would say there's more mystery and magic than violence in those movies. Recently I've read somewhere of a game quite similar to quidditch being played in real life in which one must have a broom in between his/her legs. I think this is more scary and a lot more dangerous.

D-d-d-did s-s-somebody s-s-said Har-r-ryyy Pot-t-t-er :P Depends on person :P some little kids will have problems with it , some enjoy it and have no problem with it , its really the parents decision to make if the movies is suitable for their kids , the warning is just ~~~~ for the kids age :)

maybe in the later part its not for kids anymore. It should be PG 13. But if we are talking about the first two part maybe no.

Mabyee younger children would be frightned by some parts of the movies.I think that parents should view the film before showing it to younger children in order to figure out if it is sutible for them to watch or not.I feel that the movies are just fine for everyone over the age of 5 but kids under 5 may find some parts of the movies to frightning. The books and movies are really great and I can't wait to see the latest movie that is being released.
