I actually don't tend to think that television spoils children at all as long as the parents of the children are vigilant about how much television they allow their children to watch. For example, my children are allowed to watch television, but they aren't allowed to watch too much and I also monitor what I allow them to watch on tv. This means that they are not really that influenced by the things that they see on TV.

A lot are potential spoilers to them, that's why too much of everything is dangerous, we as parents must have the sole control of some of these.

Hi, it is depend on what kind of cartoon network and also reality shows that the children are watching. Some cartoon can be educational type. But some can be torturing and violent which may not suitable for children aged. For me, I am prefer to give my son watch those educational vcds like Barney or some English dvds which he can learn some good words from there. and it can help him to speed up his speech. But one thing to remember : don't offer too much TV programme to our chidlren. It may not good for their eyes. For me, I strict to the most 1-2 hours of TV shows everyday for my son. The rest of the time, I will schedule other programme for him like colouring, writing, doing some crafts work, playing toys, cycling, playing games/sports,playing puzzles, reading story books.

What's the deal with reality shows? I have a 5 yo kid and he is not interested in the slightest way on any reality show. I don't know why you are comparing it, but I'd love hear the reason why.

Well it all depends on their age. I don't know that many 8, 9 or 10 year olds that watch reality shows. They are more into SpongeBob, Hanny Montana, and stuff like that. Now if you are talking about older kids (teens) ages 14, 15, and 16, then reality shows like Jersey Shore, The Wild Boyz, 16 And Pregnant and The Real World may "spoil" kids. Cause shows like that, are loaded with filth!

Many 8 and 9 yr olds do watch reality shows like dance and music programs, where the kids are put to tough competition. of course they do not understand those adult shows like u have stated, but teenagers do watch them and get spoilt. most of cartoons are bad. very bad language and fight scenes make them violent. I wonder why Television networks are doing this. Thanks a lot for ur response.
