Thin Socks..Big Mistake!

Serves me right to feel so smug about my £25 boots that are soo comfy..I can walk for MILES in them blah-de-blah. However, that is only if I wear the correct socks with them. They are fairly wide at the toes, these boots. I can wear thinner socks with them but the boots are comfier still if I wear the thicker, longer ones. Guess which ones I wore today on my 2 mile trek to Brunton Park, then the Post Office to pick a parcel up? Yes, that's right, the thinner ones! My heels were burning when I got in the house despite the boots being faux fur-lined. I wouldn't mind but the long socks had dried, it's not as though they were wet through or anything. Have you ever made the wrong footwear decisions, whether it be the footwear itself or the socks/tights, no socks/tights at all lol.

While growing up, we wore what everyone calls now "bo bo's". Those were the little white tennis shoe that were so comfy that you never had to wear socks while wearing them. I was raised wearing socks. Thick ones, thin ones, ugly ones and yes, even those ghastly toe socks. I wasn't used to wearing shoes with no socks and these things killed my feet. I had blisters everywhere. I am an adult now and still go occasionally without socks. I just bought a pair of Nike's online and they are actually very nice to my feet with no socks. I love them. And since I bought them my back pain has decreased. Speaking of boots though, I found a pair of steel toes that I used for work and thought that if I wore them with big thick socks, my feet would be extra comfy for the standing and boy was I wrong. My feet felt like they were on fire and squished and so sore afterward. I like thin socks the best along with the gel inserts. Just to be on the safe side.

Wow, you do know your socks don't you my friend! I've had spells wearing thick tights in the winter but in the past it's been too mild. I may dig 'em out later on this week because it's set to get really cold..well. cold for the UK anyway lol. Love the avatar by the way.

Thank you! That's an old one of me and my kids. As you can see we weren't ready for it. I just bought some fuzzy chenille socks. They are green and blue and just so fuzzy. They are thick enough to keep me warm and yet they still fit into my wonderful Nike's. I got them for $.99 at a hardware store. Go figure. I ended up buying the older girls the same thing only in different colors. I think I am going to stock up on them next time I see them!

Bargains are great aren't they? Love it! I like the sound of those fuzzy, chenille socks, in fact I want some, and I want some NOW!

I really only have one kind of sock, I'm sure if I lived in a colder place I would have more kinds... still, I have experienced what you are talking about in the past, part of why I wear the socks I am always going to be wearing to try on shoes...

That sounds a very sensible approach if you ask me. I could've saved unnecessary burning in my heels if I'd worn the right socks. I'll never learn!

My feet have gotten more and more sensitive over the years. I have to be careful what to wear or I will really be miserable. I used to wear anything I liked and ignore the pain, but no longer. I hope your feet feel better soon. I admire your persistence in walking every where.

It's either walk or be a recluse lol. I've got more parcels coming this week and the postmen can please themselves now when they turn up so I've no idea what time these parcels will arrive. I will try my best to get up at a reasonable time, otherwise I'll have to walk to the depot again!

Well, now you know better, time to get a second pair of those thick, long socks.
