These days, I see motorist drive with cellphone on their ear. If not dialing or texting. Sometimes if I ride on a taxi, the driver does the same. It makes me nervous and irritated. One time, I tried to tell the driver the consequence of holding a mobile phone while on the wheels but he got angry! Did you experience the same thing?

Really? A Taxi Driver? If it was my Dad, I would say something about it, or if the streets were clear and he was still glancing, Id be the one looking at the road and would warn him for any signs of danger. He technically has me under his care, and even if he was careless, that doesnt relieve him of his responsibility. Also, as family, he of course would try his best to keep us all safe. However, in public utility vehicles, the driver is responsible for all his passengers. It is also the duty of the passenger to look after himself because he is not the one in control of the car. The thing is, passengers and drivers are not related(in general), so there might not be some genuine care by the driver as to what happens to his passengers. There might also be a horrible dispute if ever the carelessness of the driver resulted in an accident. In that case, there would be a legal battle if the passenger chooses to. The few times that I have been to Manila, and the few times that I took a taxi, there were some blunders(the driver was new in the city so he doesnt know where places were), but I havent encountered a Texting While Driving Taxi Driver. But we have encountered a feeling-Nascar-Racer Taxi Driver once. He got a sample from my eldest cousin's sharp tongue.

No I have not had this happen to me. I usually drive myself without using a cell phone. My opinion is anyone driving for a commercial business, such as Taxi service, bus service, Limo service, etc should not be allowed a cell phone while driving when they have passengers. People pay them to drive them SAFELY to a destination. They should be given this with the driver having its full attention on the Job at hand.

I haven't. I would have called the company and told the manager. I am very against texting and talking on the phone while driving. I signed the Oprah thing when she had her show about it. It is very scarey. Alot of states are making it illegal. Hopefully they will do that in your state. I would call the taxi company and complain.

I can't stand when people do that--especially when I'm in the car. About a year ago, I literally chucked a cell phone out the window because the driver was texting with it. She literally swerved in an attempt to get it back--on a highway where she really could have killed everyone in the car. I told her, "Oi, If you're going to kill us over a phone, it's time for an intervention." We're still friends, closer than ever, by some odd twist of circumstance. She got a prepaid phone afterward.

I live in india and i am very much aware of this thing, people talks on mobile phone while driving car or bike. There is a rule not to talk while driving but some or almost most of them do not follow rules. They talk on phone while driving and due to this accident occurs frequently and got hurt himself and other people on the road. too bad.
