I need a little more storage space and a little more speed in my computer, I was thinking in add more RAM and replace my HDD for a bigger one, but after search for prices in the web stores I found the SSDs and I start thinking in buy one for install the OS and left my current HDD for storage partition, but I have some doubts:
Really a SSD could improve the speed of the PC?
Is really worth to pay the high price for a SSD now?
Is good to use a SSD in combination with a HDD?
I've heard that a SSD works better in windows 7, but I don't like W7, and I'm planning to stay with windows XP as long as I can:
There are some disadvantages in using XP with a SSD?
If you have used SSDs please share your bad or good experiences to decide if I buy a SSD or not.

hey, i think SSD is like a flash drive as we know nowadays. just a little bigger than flash drive. but for me, i prefer to choose HDD, since it's cheaper than SSD. as i know SSD need a lower voltage to works. so, maybe you can save your electrical energy. it's your choice. ^_^

Yes a SSD is a very high capacity flash memory used as a Hard drive, and is a little expensive due to the high capacity, but has many advantages like more speed of reading/writing, there is no noise and a low power consumption but is not due to less voltage, is due to the absence of mechanical parts.
is really good to have this advantages but as you said the price is high for now and that's why I'm in doubt about the buy...

solid state is mostly just the hard drive and a few usb devices. You don't have a dvd/cd built in to the computer, i have a mini netbook with a solid state drive which consists of 2 gigabytes of hd space. Don't get anything with an arm drive. X86 can really be a great choice, it's quick and more accessable than using anything arm or anything else, arm can only handle android or ce. x86 can use xp,vista, 7 debian, slackware and redhat Walmart has a dell for $250 and i think that it's a good choice, don't buy on ebay
