I know for a fact that having extra belly fat puts you at increased risk for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. My doctor told me to lose weight since I gained extra pounds. I was told that people who carry excess weight around the stomach in their 40's are more likely to have dementia in their 70's.
But when I get depressed or stressed I tend to eat and eat. Is there something wrong with me? I can't get over it. I want to lose weight but It doesn't stop me to eat when I'm down.
What seems to be the problem with me?

Well, stress causes belly fat because of your body's coping mechanisms. When a person gets stressed out, he or she releases estrogen as well. What most people do not know is that estrogen induces fat deposition to preserve energy stores as well. Hence, getting too stressed will certainly make a person get fat deposits. And aside from that, it is a fact that most people who are stressed tend to over eat specially sweet and rich in sugar foods which in turn are either stored as glycogen or as fat.
