Don't you just love opensource software ?

Hello everyone.
Do you have a symbian phone? Or do you like iOS4?
I like symbian, because it's an opensource platform and i just like it, that we can mod it and make it look the way we want it. I know the iPhone looks nice and all, but i don't really want that, even though i know i could get as many apps as possible. I have been doing a little geek kind of stuff lately, like signing up cracked software and installing them on my phone, and now my phone looks great with a changed UI.
I am looking forward to flash(install a non official operating system) my phone with a custom built software, you know the nokia Os can get really boring, so you might as well put a custom made firmware for your phone. But the job is tedious and it takes a lot of patience doing it, plus real risks for loosing your phone completely (although they say it's 99% safe doing it) so i am not doing it for the time being. Anyways, i am enjoying installing some really cool softwares for my phone.
Don't you just love linux, symbian ? Coz we can mod it, and make it how we would like it to be?
Does anybody have a hacked symbian phone here? It would be interesting. :)

Coming to the topic.. Yes opensource software is really cool.. though I have not used it but I am aware of that technology a little bit.. Isnt it cool that we can customize the software as we want..

Yeah, it is nice that we are able to customize it to our needs. That is symbian is nice for. But at the same time, it's not easy doing it. Anyways, we can always apply what others have made it like.
My exams just finished yesterday. It was fine.

ok sure I will be here on mylot whenever I get my free time.. you know I even stopped watching TV instead I will be here cause I dont want to miss mylot..

Hope everything is going fine there. I had a very nice time with my family and relatives this winter and i am back to this place, because i missed it so much. Well, i don't know if this place would be easier for the programmers, but one thing is for sure, everyone enjoys this site.

Heya.
Yes, to have an Open Source Operating System feels quite great! I have an Android Phone at the moment and it's fun being able to customize it as and when I want, and however I like. In fact, I'm working on a simple application of my own for the OS.
An Apple phone is also pretty nice to have. Although not open source, it provides a lot of the features that would make it fun using the iOS! Many people prefer it for the simplicity of its use. I wouldn't opt for it because Apple are a tad too much of control-freaks for my liking :)
I do have a friend who has the S^3 operating system. He's customized the phone a bit, and it's a welcome change from the stock UI, although it does lag a bit. Anyway, I hope Nokia does wonders with their upcoming QT. Let's hope it goes good, because that's one Company's product I could buy with my eyes closed! (Of course, now that I've come across Android, I don't think I can use any other contemporary Operating System at the moment! :P)

Yes, i can't agree more. Android is great. You should be pretty happy with it. I wish i owned one too, lol. As far as Apple goes, i don't think i would want to try any of their products though they do have nice hardware, ha ha. Anyways, i love HTC Android phones, i guess they are even better than those blackberries. Androids are great. Yeah, i wish Nokia come up with something good soon!
