Prince William as I expec t everyone is getting fed up with hearing is getting married next year.
He has given his Fiancee his Mum, Princess Dianas engagement ring. This is a lovely guesture but would you really want someones engagement ring when their marriage was not a happy one?
I would not like to wear someones ring that wasnt connected to happiness.

I WOULD want a ring that is now worth about £250,000. It was about £28,000 new!

I agree with your opinions. But I think Prince William's Fiancee can just accept the ring and put it into a safe.

I think in this case it would be fine. It was his mother's ring. He loved her, he (supposedly) loves his fiance'. It would be a nice reminder for him and for his wife. Besides the ring is beautiful.

I like the idea of having someone else's engagement ring because that means that the ring comes with a history and has more sentimental value than just plain monetary value. I don't really think it matters if their marriage was happy or not (I think it would mean more if it was a long and happy marriage, but still), because in this instance it's just a gesture of love and respect for his mother. Just because the ring wasn't connected to happiness before doesn't mean that it can't be now.

It depends. If it was a family heirloom, like it was in this case, I would not mind I think.
