Do you always carry a book with you when you travel?

During the times where I go somewhere, as rare as they may be, I always manage to have a book on hand. That way if I have to sit and wait for a while on something, I have something to do. So how about you? Do you have a book on hand when you travel? Looking forward to reading your responses.

I have gotten to the place where I generally almost always have a book or two with me. That way I never have real "down" or unprofitable time if I get stuck waiting somewhere. Usually when I have a book with me that I really want to read it all goes a lot faster!! It only goes slow when I don't have one with me! lol!

Yeah time can go really slow without a book. With one, it tends to go much faster. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Thank you. I also now have scrabble on my phone so I don't feel like my time is wasted as bad. Like this morning I was waiting for a hair cut. Time was real short so I didn't have a book with me as I tried to get there as soon as it opened! But I still had to wait so I played a game of scrabble with the computer!

Yeah anything really to pass the time. Of course, I enjoy Scrabble and it tends to be a game that gets the mind flowing, so it is good as a book in some ways. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Absolutely. Not just one. I like to bring at least three, just in case I find I'm not in the mood for one particular book and need to switch. I even took a few books to Disney World so I'd have something to do on the way there and back and those times when I wasn't actually in the parks.

That is actually a good idea. There could be some times where you might not feel like reading a certain type of book for whatever reason. So it is good to have an alternate book ready to go. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Angel, its a nice idea. i also generally keep 3-4 books with me. The collection is always intermix of story, general awareness, business etiquette. Because in your entire journey, the surrounding may not be favorable to enjoy only one type of reading.

Yes, I certainly carry a book, especially when travelling on long flights. If I had not brought one from home, I would buy a book at a store at the airport terminal. There are magazines on the plane too, but I prefer relaxing reading a book of my favorite author. Most of the books I cary are comedies or novels with historical backgrounds.

Yeah, books are something that really make everything go much quicker. I have only taken a handful of flights in my life, but really, they would have seemed much longer without a book. Much, much longer indeed, so it is just something to keep my mind off how long this taking. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I always carry a book or two in my bag, and I think it is a great way to pass the time while I am travelling. If I am travelling by train, I read while I am waiting for the train to arrive and I also read on the train, that way I am able to spend the time on something nice instead of just waiting. If I am travel by plane there is even more waiting time, and I read while I am waiting to check in, while I am waiting in the line for the security check and while I am waiting at the gate. Sometimes I read a novel and sometimes I study for one of my classes while I am waiting at the airport.

Long waits can seem longer without something to do. Also that is a good thing if you have a chance to have your textbooks on you, to study. Making a great use of your time at any rate. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Definitely.I tend to take one magazine or book with me while traveling on train or on ship, whether i am alone or not.(For convenience,i take necessaries only,as few things as possible. That is why i only take one with me.)During journey, especially long journey,i hate talking or reading all the time, while feeling tired,i would close my book, make comfortable conversation with people nearby me and let my eyes rest.Aslo i have stored my cellphone with songs, movies and e-books,which is a easier and better way for relaxing.Having something to do can really pass the time.Blessings!Have a nice day!

I always travel with at least one book when I go off traveling overseas. I take a novel that has something to do with the place I am going to. I also take a travel guide book with accommodation listings and ideas for sight seeing. I take a phrase book to help me with the foreign language.

Yes, I always do carry a book with me when I travel. Even when I don't travel, I might still bring a book with me. I just feel a lot better having a book with me. I've always done this for one reason or another. I've always been the avid reader, which is probably why I like having a book with me wherever I go, whether I'm traveling or not.

I take a book with me whenever I leave the house which is pretty much everyday since I go to class on a regular basis. I read on the while waiting for the brain, train ride there and the train ride back, and on breaks or waiting for class to start. I read whenever I have to wait for something. I have this personal "don't-just-sit-there-looking-bored" philosophy. If I don't have a book with me then I feel lost. So I always carry a book! On the way to class, on vacation, at church, at school, at the doctor's office... I'm always reading!

Yeah I really, really hate looking bored. It just makes me come across as a not productive person. At least that's what I assume a person would see if they looked at me. It just gives me something to do at any rate. Thank you for your response It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Books are the ultimate boredom killer. Having it on me at all times is great. Sure beats sitting there for an hour and just staring blankly into space, looking all awkward, I can tell you that much. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Usually yes. If I don't have a book, I at least have tons of magazines, which is fine too. I just have to read when I travel, I do not like to be doing nothing when I am on a train or bus or train or whatever it may be...

Yes, whenever i travel, I always carry a book with me. The book is generally a magazine or story book and sometimes a business oriented book. Because while traveling I always feel discomfort (especially when traveling alone)if I found no one interesting nearby me to talk with. While traveling you should not expect an outside enjoyment. So to keep you busy you should do something or to talk to somebody. Some people also enjoy the music while traveling. But for me reading is the best feature for keep you busy while traveling. Some times (for long journey by train), I also used to carry my laptop for playing sometime as I can not read a long time.

Listening to music is good too but it really does not give me something to physically do. Books tend to be a more active thing to me, while music tends to be a passive thing. Still there is really nothing to stop me from doing both. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
