Is self-employment important?

Yes, it very good, no timportant, but good and another way of earning your lviving. because you will be your own boss, determine your own pay, work when you want to work and hire others to work for you when you do not want to work. And you can watch your money grow in your account. It is rewarding to be self employed.

If it's for the purpose of getting paid, then it is important to have marketable skills that can be transferred into an entrepreneurial venture as opposed to getting into something because someone told you to. I think also in this economy, it is something to strongly consider since professional services costs less than hiring a salaried employee.

Personally, I think the rugged individualism and self-reliance that prompted a collective entrepreneurial spirit is what makes my county's history what it is. Indeed, even today small businesses make up more than 80% of the US economy. In terms of our country as a whole and what would tends to make our economy thrive, small businesses are very important and of course, they all begin with entrepreneurship - that is, self-employment. From a personal standpoint, I do believe it is possible to make a living doing what you love the way you want it done. In many ways, it is a lot more challenging than simply applying for a job to be employed by someone else, but I think it is so much more rewarding for people who have a vision and a dream and want to carry it out. I do not think self-employment is for everyone, and of course, a number of factors must be taken into consideration before one embarks upon such a journey (which we could open a whole other disucssion about). I do believe, however that self-employment represents some of the best of this nation and what people are capable of when they're able to follow their dreams and take full advantage of the equal opportunity and endless possibilities that are granted to them.

It's very important for you to enjoy whatever job you are doing and if you enjoy something that you can start your own business with then it's a risk worth taking. The problems creep in if you aren't enjoy the job you do.

I think so, both for society as a whole, because people having their own businesses will develop the country, but also for the individual because having your own business gives you more freedom, with your time and where you work and how much and so on. So I definitely think it should be encouraged and I would also want to have my own business one day!
