Investing in something that will make extra money?

Hi there,
I am soon to get a compensation payment through (Thursday to be exact, woo!) and although I have set aside a lot of it to pay off debts, and rent, etc.. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of a way other than savings and shares, that I can invest the money and make a profit?
I know I could put it in a website, or blog, but what do you think is good content for something like this?
They say you need to spend money to make it, and now I have the money to spend, I'm not sure where to invest!
Ideas please?

I've got some good information on a stock company, alas, I do not have any money to invest into it though, or I would have made nearly a 20% profit so far.
You could always buy the rights to articles people have written, then earn money from them, that is what I may try later on, sort of.

No, I mean like paying people to write about certain things, sort of like how some of the tasks are on this site, they ask people to write certain things with certain keywords. You could pay someone to write a health article for like 1 dollar, then submit it as your own, because you bought the rights to it, then over time you will make your money back on it, probably fast if you know how to promote it.

Blogs you can create for free. The easiest thing would be to put it in a bank that pays interest. It also depends on how much you want to invest and how long you can afford to let it grow. I will be more than willing to help if you provide more details.

The thing is, I have a poor credit history, and even though I'll be using most of my payout to pay all my debt off, it's going to leave me with about £5,000
That being said, with my credit history, it's impossible for me to open up a bank that has a good savings account because I am constantly being declined.

Hi MildMix, we're in the same boat in that I am looking to receive comp payment too(not on Thursday, more like sometime in December)but I want to invest in something as well. Talking to a few business savvy friends of mine I think it would be wise to invest in something that will continue to be not only a want but a necessity for the public. It's not etched in stone yet but I think I going to invest in a franchise, like a subway location or something like that from what I hear the starting cost is low 5K. So I figure if I'm daring enough to invest in the stock market why not this! Of course i'll still do my research but it's looking pretty good ~ Best wishes to you :D

A franchise sounds like a pretty good idea! Especially with start up costs that cheap, but I can imagine that realistically it will be a lot more than that.
As for Subway, well with 3 of them being in my town, and 2 in the town next door, I think I will be hard pushed to make any money from them, but I will definitely look into all the other different franchises and see what's available.
Good luck in your investment, let me know how it goes.
